On rewatch, Jurassic World is not a good movie

I remember enjoying it the first time I saw it, but it just isn’t good.
The story waffles between trying to be frightening and kid friendly.
The characters make moronic decisions.
The plot devices to advance the story are so incredibly stupid. Why wouldn’t they check the tracking device before they go into the cage? Just dumb.
At least in the original Jurassic Park, the power was knocked out. In this movie, the dinosaur escapes because they couldn’t see it in the tree filled enclosure and don’t check its tracking device. Come on.
The dinosaur is also this super smart dino who can talk to and command raptors.
But don’t worry, the raptor and the T-Rex team up in the end. Then they look at each other with mutual respect and go their own ways. Heartwarming to see the love between two beautiful species.
Let’s not even talk about how they release all of the pterodactyls when the CEO decides to be the pilot to go shoot the dino.
The main military villain is a complete idiot too. Trained raptors as military weapons? Really?
And just as an aside, the main female character spends the entire movie running from dinosaurs in heels.
This movie is bad.
I like bad movies that know they are bad. This movie isn’t one of those.
For those who disagree, if you haven’t watched it recently, watch it again. It isn’t enjoyable.
What is amazing is that the 2nd movie is multiple times worse.

It never was good. Like Star Trek (2009) it benefitted from a long time without a good entry in the series, so seeing CGI dinos was immediately satisfying. But the movie has no staying power.

Also, was the young kid supposed to be autistic? They kinda gloss over it and then never reference it again.
The kid just acts weird and I think they were going for that angle.
They failed badly on that too. That isn’t how autism works.

It was enjoyable the first time only for the nostalgia. I enjoy rewatching the original JP probably once a year. I saw Jurassic World in the theater and once at home. No desire to watch it again. Saw the 2nd JW at the theater and haven’t watched it a 2nd time.

Really all that needs to be said. Even the CG is inferior to what we saw in 1993.

It tricked us into thinking it was good by being slightly less shitty than the previous film.
I honestly thought laser raptors went extinct thousands of years ago

They are both terrible.

This one finally killed the franchise for me, that's how bad it was.

Also, as recent research might show you, dinosaurs had feathers.

More ridiculous than motorcycle raptor bros? Or a t-rex raptor hybrid who can hide thermal signature, camouflage, and understand the concept of a tracking device remember to remove said implanted tracking device in order to avoid detection once it escaped?

I couldn’t get over the reasoning behind going save the animals and the fact that the island decides to explode the moment they get there.
I hate how movies do that.

Bryce Dallas Howard is the real bad guy in the film.
She's fricking Burke!

You are completely correct. I enjoyed it my first watch through save for being very disturbed on what happened to Ron Howard’s daughter’s assistant, but thinking it through I realized it was a piece of shite. This guy breaks it down best why the film is an abomination: Jurassic World, Jurassic Values

I don’t know about you, but I’d love to feed my enemies to velociraptors. I just took it as if he was a sick frick like me.
