In my opinion, Omar Little from The Wire is the best character in the history of TELEVISION!
Who do you think is the greatest character in television history?

Michael Scott and I'm not a huge fan of The Office so I mean it.

Quite possibly the most overrated TV character of all time.
There are at least 10 characters on the wire who are more more interesting than him

Name them, please. And state specifically how you think they are more interesting than a shot gun wielding, openly homosexual, Robin Hood of the hood.

Omar is in the top 10 for sure. I'd rank Paulie Walnuts higher than Omar.

1. Brother Mouzone - easily as fearsome as Omar, easily as efficient as Omar (essentially a one-man show, save for Lamar's forgetful arse), and whose name rings out louder than Omar's
2. Chris Partlow - some say former military, some say victim of child abuse, all say deadly; here's a Kuklinski-esque family man able to flip the hitman switch with ease
3. Bodie Broadus - a smart-arse pawn, a master spitter, a rightful hustler; probably the most stereotypical character, a young black killed early in life like his brother before him
4. Lt. Dennis Mello - I like the way he said "captured"
5. Augustus Haynes - one of the few characters who didn't appear to have (or was hinted at having) both good and bad morals; he stood for what was right, obviously to his detriment, but his character was never (rightfully) called into question
6. Terrance Fitzhugh - rumor is that he's still shite at 10-25ing and calls everyone "brotha"
7. Marlo Stanfield - I'd like to know more about his rise; despite being Westside, no one seemed to know who he was...that suggests that it was meteoric
8. Delonda Brice - I'd love to know more about her - her rise from the depths of Hell and how she ultimately found her way back down there...awful woman
9. Ed Norris - he's natural po-lice, right? I'm sure he put down some good cases, though he makes the list for being able to detect lies, lying motherfricker
10. Dr. Randall Frazier - should be congratulated for being elected mayor of Chicago
Honorable mention goes to Marquis Hilton, though he's just Bird to me.

You named 11 characters and didn't include Bunk, Clay Davis or Stringer Bell? Shhhiieeeet.
Stringer Bell deserves a mention for best name ever at minimum.

Definitely the most overrated on The Wire. I felt like Omar was the most unrealistic character in the whole series. How’s a guy like that never gets killed by the drug dealers he’s robbing? I can only name 2 scenes where I enjoyed Omar, and one was when Bunk was lecturing him about what a parasite he was, and the other was when Brother Mouzone and him did a stand-off. That was it.
I was more interested in all the other realistic stuff going on in The Wire. Omar felt like a comic book hero or something. It was out of place in a gritty series like that.

Character was based off a real person that robbed drug dealers in Baltimore and was convicted of multiple murders.

Odd things happen when the myth is big enough.

He was better as Chalky White.
