It’s the Jim Wynorski special. Since you liked that I can’t not recommend one of my favorites. No, not Chopping Mall, even though it’s a classic, but the great film Hard to Die. Women running around in next to nothing and then nothing, mystery, intrigue, showers. Good shite!

Finished my October marathon of 31 horror films I haven’t seen before:
The Shout (dir. Jerzy Skolimowski - 1978)
Shivers (dir. David Cronenberg - 1975)
Christine (dir. John Carpenter - 1983)
Eraserhead (dir. David Lynch - 1977)
The Prince of Darkness (dir. John Carpenter - 1987)
Lake Mungo (dir. Joel Anderson - 2008)
Cronos (dir. Guillermo del Toro - 1993)
Dead Ringers (dir. David Cronenberg - 1988)
Cure (dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa - 1997)
Trouble Every Day (dir. Claire Denis - 2001)
They Live (dir. John Carpenter - 1988)
The Slumber Party Massacre (dir. - Amy Holden Jones - 1982)
Possession (dir. Andzej Zulawski - 1981)
Kuroneko (dir. Kaneto Shindo - 1968)
Diabolique (dir. Henri-Georges Clouzot - 1955)
The Descent (dir. Neil Marshall - 2005)
[•REC] (dir. Jaime Balaguero and Paco Plaza - 2007)
Hour of the Wolf (dir. Ingmar Bergmann - 1968)
Carnival of Souls (dir. Herk Harvey - 1962)
Night of the Living Dead (dir. George Romero - 1968)
Teeth (dir. Mitchell Lichtenstein - 2008)
The Vanishing (dir. George Sluzier - 1988)
Eyes Without A Face (dir. Georges Frandu - 1960)
The Howling (dir. Joe Dante - 1981)
Daughters of Darkness (dir. Harry Kumel - 1971)
The Devils (dir. Ken Russell - 1971)
Re-Animator (dir. Stuart Gordon - 1985)
Suspiria (dir. Dario Argento - 1971)
Audition (dir. Takashi Miike - 1999)
The Dead Zone (dir. David Cronenberg - 1983)
Dahmer (dir. David Jacobson - 2002)
Highlights for me were Shivers, Cure and Daughters of Darkness. Trouble Every Day had the roughest scene. I’d wave people off of The Shout and The Descent.

What did you not like about The Descent?

Didn’t care for any of it, especially the ending. Was surprised because this one makes a lot of lists.

It is one I watch every year. I thought it was very well done. Then again, I really like As Above So Below too, so I may just have a thing for haunted caves apparently

Just saw a real hidden gem from the 90s, Mute Witness.
A mute make-up artist working on a slasher movie being shot in Moscow, is locked in the studio after hours. While there, she witnesses a brutal murder, and must escape capture.
One hell of a thriller! Terrible trailer, but a great film! Go in blind for best effect.

I imagine you watched the US ending? I personally find the UK ending more satisfying. The UK ending was the original ending, but was changed for US audiences because it was too bleak

I love watching The Fog

Yeah I like that idea. I’ll keep adding neat horror movies for others to check out.

Speaking of, here’s an incredible movie from Japan that is desperately in need of a Blu-ray upgrade.
Angel Dust.
If you liked Silence of the Lambs then this film is for you. There are many, many chilling scenes. It’s a bit trippy. Anyway it revolves around a forensic psychiatrist brought in by police to stop a serial killer basically. The film is also available in entirety on YouTube. There is not a dub and this is the highest quality of the film to date. Enjoy!

I have a whole multi-page thread waiting to be posted with genre breakdowns, examples, etc.
I was waiting until Halloween b/c Cokes sticked this (and mine wouldn't be stickied)
I watched Starve Acre yesterday. It was pretty good, like a 6.5. It was really good for a folk horror although it could have built things up a bit better and used less of an exposition dump at the end. If you don't like folk horror you'll HATE this movie, though.

Terrifier 3 - 2025...
...is now 100% free on tubi.com. If you use Firefox, it removes the ads.
Part 2 is still the best of the series in my opinion. This one is basically just gore porn.

How in the world can you say this about anything when Terrifier 2 is your favorite of the series?

I like eighties horror, gore porn, slasher type movies. In my opinion, part two is the better of the three. I like part one as well.
Part three just isn't the same as the others...

I bring you all another hidden gem from 2000, a remake of the film Satan's School for Girls. This is a real time capsule starring Julie Benz and Shannen Doherty. So, sure it's not a good movie, but it's fun and endearing and it's frankly just fun to see Julie Benz and Shannen Doherty. It's a neat little mystery and well, it's available in full on youtube!

Rewatched Pumpkinhead for the first time in like 20 years. Holy shite does this movie hold up well. Stan Winston

Hell yeah! Plus it stars the great Lance Henriksen! Dude, that movie really does hold up. There’s something timeless about practical effects. That’s the real movie magic. Here’s a neat recommendation and a double feature with another Lance Henriksen feature. It also stars the great Brion James.
