World War Z I’m surprised you like this one. I thought it was very meh and super disappointing having read the book.

Yeah the theme of the podcast is favorite, not best, and strangely WWZ just does it for me as a fun movie.

Agreed it doesn’t hold a candle to the book.

Forgot to say earlier, I also watched Silver Bullet last night. That movie absolutely terrified me as a kid and I hated scary movies because of it. I watched it as an adult and enjoyed it, bud hadn’t seen it in prolly 10-15 years.

It still holds up pretty well. The werewolf scenes are pretty creepy and well done. And the werewolf SFX look good, especially for 1985.

Agree completely. Outwaters is complete garbage. 1 hour of boring shite to make it long enough to call it a “movie” then a Harbor Freight flashlight the remainder of the time with a bunch of screaming. Ghostland is actually good…unlike this horseshite I just wasted my time on.

Couple other classics I've watched recently

Watched the Dawn of the Dead remake today, and it holds up pretty well. The whole zombie pregnancy thing is a little weird (and too much screen time), but all in all it’s a solid take on zombies. I’m not sure if I’ve seen the original before but I may remedy that soon.

The part where they’re shooting zombies that look like celebrities is great.

Watched No One Lives this weekend. Interesting premise, couple of surprises. There is kind of a mystery in the beginning that sparked my interest. The acting isn’t great and the dialogue is just awful. In the hands of a more capable producing team and director, this could have been really good.

I've recently watched In the Mouth of Madness. I remember thinking this looked stupid when it came out but lots of people online have been saying its good the last few years. I enjoyed it. Good Lovecraft type story.

Also watched Horror of Frankenstein and Scars of Dracula both from Hammer Films. Horror of Frankenstein was really good. The guy who played Victor carried the movie. Ending came out of nowhere and didn't resolve anything but other than that it was good. Didn't care for Scars of Dracula as much. Christopher Lee barely in it. I would like to check out more Hammer films in the future.

Watched Wer last night, a werewolf movie. Great concept, a few decent jump scares, enjoyable movie. My main issue with it was that it was shot like a found footage movie, like it was all on a handheld video camera over people’s shoulders and stuff… but it was not a found footage movie at all. Very distracting to me. Went off the rails at the end, though.

If Psycho counts, that would be my #1. I don't think most people view that as a true horror film though.

I consider it more of a thriller with a horror vibe.
Absolutely creepy and terrifying, a true classic.

Not your typical slasher movie.

Peacock has a nice horror selection right now. Watched the recent Halloween trilogy, now watching the Blair witch movies.

On my list.

I’ve mentioned that I’m a vajajay when it comes to horror and the macabre.

That being said I can handle scifi horror and mild slasher flicks.

Knocked out Alien, the Thing, and Aliens on a 4 day weekend.

I forget how Aliens is a masterclass film. I love it.

Tomorrow is Scream with family, (16 and 18 YOs, I’m not a monster) and then happy death day.

I like the film and pretend like it’s just a good Zombie movie as opposed to based on any source material.

For someone as terrified of spiders as I am, I absolutely love that movie. Saw it in theaters as well back in the day. It's definitely more of a horror comedy than horror, but it's fun. John Goodman is great in it.

I noticed the other night how the first 7 minutes of the movie almost had the same intro as Jurassic Park. On a canoe in a river in the jungle followed by helicopters flying next to some waterfalls.

Watched Christine last night and believe I might give Phantasm a whirl tomorrow. Making it a point this year to watch some older movies I haven’t seen in a while.

The last five nights, we've watched Friday the 13th, Sleepy Hollow, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, and The Thing. Wife has never seen all of the Ft13th movies, so those are still on the list.
