Also, the manager at the Rave on O'Neil told us that the mall had to open up all 16 of their theaters last night and that they had already opened up 9 and hope to sell out as well. That's pretty insane.
had it on every screen simultaneously. no movie other than that started after 8. it was a mad house. i liked it tho b/c there were no lines, u just went in and found whatever theater you could fit in.

Rachel Dawes (Ghyllenhall chick) HAS to atleast be decent looking. It was comical trying to portray that girl as decent looking

Yeah, I agree. In the scene where Joker says, "Hello, beautifull. And you are beautiful," it was almost like they just wrote that in to try to convince everyone that she is hot. I admit that she has moments where I can see some attractiveness, but most scenes her looks just distracted me from whatever she was saying.

Found this review on another board:

By Greg Vellante
Staff writer

Dear Heath,

I’ve been trying to write a film review for “The Dark Knight” and finding it nearly impossible. I mean, why write an ordinary review for a film that is anything but ordinary? So instead, I decided to write this letter to you, the man I’ve come to know over the past few years and more recently — especially in the wake of your untimely death earlier this year — to greatly admire.

Certainly I have great praise for “The Dark Knight.” It’s breathtaking — an all-out achievement in filmmaking. And yet, it feels equally important to pay tribute to a man who delivered such a dedicated performance in his last full role as The Joker, ultimately pushing “The Dark Knight” from the realm of great film to the one of haunting masterpiece.

Heath, I have no idea how the afterlife works or what has become of your talented soul, but I hope somewhere, somehow, you are able to hear this.

Viewing “The Dark Knight,” I knew I was witnessing a cinematic masterpiece the moment I began to lose touch with reality: The theater transformed into the streets of Gotham City and the people around me slowly disappeared.

All of the film’s characters — especially your Joker, became real to me. Christian Bale’s return as Bruce Wayne/Batman is powerful and fierce, and at the same time somewhat poetic. Batman has established a code for himself in which he will not kill, and throughout the film that commitment is tested to the fullest extent.

Other performances, such as Gary Oldman as Lt. James Gordan and Aaron Eckhart as DA Harvey Dent, are also great. You were lucky to work with such an amazing cast, Heath, and I’m positive that everyone involved with “The Dark Knight” felt the same way about you.

If your director, Christopher Nolan, keeps up this level of work, I’m sure his name will one day join the likes of Scorsese and Hitchcock. His vision is flawlessly carried out; the way he captures the essence of the film’s environment, characters and storyline.

What I appreciate most about Nolan’s take on the “Batman” franchise, as compared to the ’60s TV series or even Tim Burton’s films, is that he doesn’t try to make a superhero movie. This makes perfect sense, because Batman isn’t really super at all. Despite his suit, mask, and gadgets, Batman is just a man trying to fight injustice and make things right in his city. Nolan understands this, and drives the film in the direction of a riveting crime drama. He succeeds: “The Dark Knight” is as good a crime drama as “The Departed.”

Then there’s you, Heath. When you so tragically died early this year, I felt a peculiar sense of loss that I had never before felt with any other actor’s death. Maybe it’s because you were closer to my age. As I was entering adolescence, you were stepping into the movie scene with films like “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999) and “The Patriot” (2000).

As I began to mature, you did the same in your film roles. Your performance in “Monster’s Ball”(2002) was touching, but it was your subtle, sublime performance in “Brokeback Mountain” (2005) that earned my respect for you as a serious actor. Now, as I watch your last complete role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” something just doesn’t seem right. This may be your best role to date. Undoubtedly it’s your most committed. And sadly, you are not here to receive the praise you deserve.

Do you know how I knew your performance as the Joker was genuine? Whenever you were on screen, not once did I think I was looking at Heath Ledger. For 152 minutes, I forgot who Heath Ledger was. During that time, not once did I think about your death and not once did I feel sad. It wasn’t until after the movie let out that these feelings began to sink in.

I’m sad I won’t see you in future films and continue to witness your talent and dedication to the art of acting. There has been talk about giving you a posthumous Oscar nomination, and if there is any way I can make sure that happens, sign me up. You deserve it.

Sincerely,

Greg Vellante

im a complete spider- man homer. they are my all time fav movies but after watching The Dark Knight last night i think its the most incrediable movie i have seen. ledger's role as the joker blew me away. you cant even tell its him playing the role, all you see is the jokers. he brought the role of the joker to a whole new level of darkness. A+ going see it again tonight.

I saw it last night all I can say is: Perfection!
For once a movie not only lived up to the hype, but surpassed it!

My only complaint about the films is Bale's voice when he's in the suit. I understand making it a little deeper but at times it just sounds ridiculous.

Just got back. I loved it and Heath Ledger is excellent as the Joker.

But, I felt it was a bit on the long side.

SPOILERS

I thought it should have wrapped up shortly after the hospital scene, leaving us with a newly-created Two-Face and a possibly incarcerated Joker. They should have done the hospital explosion OR the ship bomb scene, but not both. The plot became a little disjointed after the hospital scene, trying to cram too much info into the last half hour.

Still, the movie kicked arse and I'll probably go see it again in a week or so.

Does anyone else agree now that Maggie G. was a super ugly Rachel Dawes?
My gosh she looked old as shite!
I mean billionaire Bruce Wayne has a different model in every scene and he falls for the droopy-looking Rachel Dawes?

It doesn't really bother me, but I have to agree. But, as long as she can act, which she can, I'm happy.

What's the story with Katie Holms not doing it? Is she just crazy by association now?

If I had to guess i think it will be either the Riddler or the Penguin. Thoughts

Nolan has already said he won't use the Penguin the next movie. Just google Nolan Bale Penguin, and you'll get about ten sites that all quote that.

Riddler might be a possibilty, but it'd have to be a powerhouse Riddler (which seems tough already) to hold a candle to Ledger's Joker.

She sucks as an actress, and she was the only thing universally panned in Begins. Allegedly, Nolan didn't want her back. Plus, yeah she's crazy now.

Ok I posted on my phone last night, but here is my day after review. This movie was everything and More that I hoped that it would be. It was easily one of my favorite movies ever and definately the best movie viewing experience of my life. The fact that Nolan almost never uses CGI made the viewing experience the best.

Ledger: Easily the best villain of all time. He was just amazing to watch. He was scary, clevor, funny, intimidating, and most of all he often made me forget his name was Heath Ledger and convinced me it was really "The Joker" and that is what all great actors are supposed to do. The fact that it was such a great performance made it even more bitter sweet because that guy obviously had so much potential. Definately Oscar worthy.

Plot: The whole plot made me forget it was a superhero movie. The Drama of the many life or death intances made me sit on the edge of my seat often. With movies like this there are usually one sequence near the end where people say "oh the movie was alright, but the end battle sequence was cool". There were about five of those in this movie not to mention little twists and turns throughout the movie. This movie had me guessing one way, changing my guess to something else, and then going a complete other direction from the two things I thought were going to happen. That is truly what makes movies classics.

What sucks for them is that if they make a third then there will be no way that they could out do this one. Kudos to everyone that was part of making this movie in any way.

The Riddler would be good because him and the joker are both that psychotic brand of villain. They would definately need to get an amzing actor just to hold Ledgers jock. They better interview everyone and anyone they can for the riddler because it is the key decision for the third one to even be remotely close to what this one is imho.

Did anyone else find themselves laughing very hard during some moments? There were some really funny parts to this film.

I think this may have been the first time I have ever heavily approved of a movie where I was unintentially laughing at several points.
