On top of that his whole family is dead, so Natasha is probably the person he loves most that's still alive.
Let's do some quick temporal analysis.
Barton's eldest daughter is in her mid-teens (let's say 15).
Let's assume he and Laura have been married about 15-17 years as of 2018. That means he met her in the mid to late-90's at the earliest.
Natasha was "recruited into SHIELD" (saved) by Clint in 1986-1987 if I recall correctly.
Clint saved her soul. In return, she set him up with Laura. She also saved his soul in 2012 after Loki took over his mind.
Until the Avengers, SHIELD (more specifically, Clint Barton) had been her only family for almost 20 years.
They were all the other had left when they were on Vormir and neither were truly certain the plan would work.

I'm not reading this thread, but how much butthurt was there over the girl power scene towards the end?

I don’t think you know what I am talking about, or maybe I used the wrong word.
I’m talking about how instead of being a montage of MCU moments in the marvel studio logo, they had shots of Stan Lee.
Wasp couldn’t have had it, as it was released before his death.
Only Captain Marvel has the homage.

It was a nice spectacle. Yes, it felt forced, but it was just that, a nice quick spectacle.
They missed an opportunity to have Rocket and Shuri compare notes and verbally spar over who is smarter.
"Sure thing, PRINCESS"
"Whatever you say, FURBALL"
They already had Tony Stark call Rocket both Build-A-Bear and Ratchet (from Ratchet and Clank)

There's not a closer partnership in the MCU.
Yep, and I wish they had delved into it more than they did in the earlier films instead of trying to force feed a Banner/Widow relationship on us. Thanks, Josh.

If I'm not mistaken, in the comics the ones who Natasha Romanoff is the closest to are Clint Barton, Steve Rogers...Frank Castle...and James Howlett.

Well. Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of butthurt in the Tigerdroppings M/TV area. According to this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

I want a Sly Cooper reference.

That would have been great.
Also, while we got a small bit of it, I wish we'd have gotten more Korg and Rocket together. Hopefully Korg tags along with Thor in joining the Guardians.

I don’t think people are giving enough credit to the performance Josh Brolin gave as Thanos. He was a great villain with a lot of depth. That’s not easy to do with a giant CGI alien.

BW and Hawkeye have been partners since his first appearance in an Iron Man story in 1964 (back when they were both villains).

Not hating on Sam but does he know how to throw the shield or have the fighting stats to even come close to Steve?
I feel like we should've had a couple instances in films to show he improved as a martial artist or something.

sam is not
it seems like sam should just stay as the falcon, relying on his wings and tech for fighting
if anyone got the shield, it should have been bucky

I wonder what they do with the old Avengers compound. Seems like you could make it into an international/intergalactic tourist attraction pretty easily. Put a bunch of monuments up right around the destruction and try to keep the rest of the battlefield intact. The location where the universe was saved would be pretty badass for tourism.

Its like Mjolnir, Bucky is not worthy. Sam is a veteran who has always been on the right side of things. Bucky is a veteran but also a former assassin who's killed Americans. Why is this so hard for ppl to accept??
Yes, Bucky is Caps lifelong friend but that alone doesnt entitle you to take up the shield.

ETA: i didn't know wilson becomes captain too. so it probably is the right call giving it to him in the movie

And is Cap for a very brief time because he acknowledges he is not the right person for the role.

I guess they wanted to throw some curves here and there.

Maybe that’s what happens here as well. But the fact that they laid the foundation of that overtly (“like it belongs to someone else”) makes me wonder if they will.
My biggest problem with him (Falcon) being Cap is that I don’t know how he can turn into a force of will on the field.
At least Bucky has abilities down those lines.
What can Falcon do? Fly while shooting a gun? I can’t think of anything he can do on or off the field that other characters can’t do better.

Not to mention even if it was "love the most" it still would have worked because he had already lost his family so she actually was probably his most loved possession left. Their close relationship has been established for a long time.
Ding ding ding.
I mean I don't think comic book films are necessarily deep (although they are not shallow as some want to think), but sometimes you have to look at all the pieces in play to see the picture.
