I liked Batman and thought Affleck did a good job.

Even the shitty movies of Michael fricking Bay had more heart, joy, color and soul that Snyder's last two movies combined.

Snyder really is an unbelievably shitty director and it's just depressing as hell that DC hitched their wagons to a one trick hack like him. He's never really made a good movie and the one movie that wasn't an utter failure was 300 and that was spotty at best.

I saw the movie with the wife and went in with very low expectations. I will say I don't think I wasted my money. It certainly will not crack my top ten, but only a few limited parts really seem bad.

The way they portrayed Lex Luther was a mixed bag, as personality wise I thought it was horrible but at least they always seemed to make him be two steps ahead of everyone else. If he would have been bold and assertive instead of manic and awkward, it would have been the best part of the movie.

I would have liked all the wanton destruction to have been scaled back and Batman's dream sequences felt to shoehorned in. But Wonder Woman was awesome, Batman was good (I won't go great but I think they made Frank Millar proud), and Superman was better than in MoS. I still agree that Synder has no clue how to present Superman, but it is a hard character to put on the big screen.

I think a compare and contrast style would have worked so much better for this movie, but I never found myself looking at my watch and I never got bored.

My biggest grip is NO AFTER CREDIT SCENE! What the hell? How do you not tease Darkseid? Or at the very least the Watchtower? That was bullshite. They could have just taken the scene with Wonder Woman looking at the footage and made that the after credit scenes.

I would give it a 3/5. On a scale of comic book movies, it is close to Age of Ultron. Tons of potential, a number of things done right, but it still lacked in a number of key spots. I think comic book movie fans will enjoy it but those ranking it as one of the best aren't looking for more than summer blockbusters shallowness in their movies.

not surprising, but it's off to a strong start. WOM will be huge for it next weekend thou.

quote:

Deadline reveals that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is taking off in a big way in China. Dominating 75% of the market there, it's already earned $21.2 million, and when you take into account what the movie has so far made in countries like Mexico, Russia, and Germany, that now gives it a current international haul of $65 million. It's also worth noting that it launched at #1 in every single country it opened in yesterday. Now, early estimates in North America have risen from $150 million to the $165 million - $180 million range. It's thought that the Zack Snyder helmed release could sail past $80 million today, and it looks to continue breaking records, with the highest March opening of all-time pretty much a guarantee at this point. Moviegoers clearly don't care about reviews then, but it will be interesting to see how it fares over the next few weekend depending on which way word of mouth swings.

I just saw it. Went it expecting the worst and was surprised that I liked it.

Hearing people say how terrible it was and how it was the worst movie they ever seen, I was expecting it to be garbage but it was not close to either of those to me.

I liked it a little more than man of steel. I wasn't a huge fan of superman returns.

This, 100% this

I'm not a huge Superman fan and just didn't enjoy MoS that much.

This was the most comic book version of Batman we have ever seen on film, wonder woman was absolutely amazing. Lex was meh, but as a non-Luther enemy he wasn't horrible (weakest part of the film)

This was a good movie, it gave us emotional stakes we don't see in comic book movies often.

8.5/10

ETA: that being said, I do wish that Snyder would get replaced, I think some of his decisions were really dumb and it's going to take the rated R director's cut before we see a fraction of what the hell is going on in his messed up head.

What is happening? How can you give a movie an 8.5/10 and then say the movie made no sense. Everybody has gone crazy.

because there are parts that make no sense, but as a whole I followed every single thing in the movie and accepted it. There are 2 instances where I would like more explanation, but other than that, it was good.

They will continue on with Justice League directed by Zack Snyder. Count on it. There are too many people who like this movie.

Just got out and haven't read the whole thread but that movie was pure garbage. The dialogue was so laughable even my wife was just shaking her head at some parts. The score might be the worst part of the movie.

They stop fighting because batman hears the word Martha?! Are you freaking kidding? Snyder should not be allowed to direct another comic book movie. I really liked Wonder Woman but my god this movie was just trash and I usually like most movies.

Smart man. This is not a movie we should allow for these slime balls to get away with. I want Zack Snyder and David Goyer fired by the end of the weekend for this abortion.

Just saw it. Most of the movie was good but the bad parts really killed it.

1) The Martha conclusion to the fight scene is an all time bad decision in movie history. I seriously cannot think of another let down that was as bad as that.

2) The inclusion of the Justice League was worse than the Martha scene. Wonder Woman ruined the ending. She had no place in this movie. Not only that, Batman kicked Superman's arse and the ending went right back in Superman's favor AND he had another super-human counterpart to help him win. Neither Superman or Wonder Woman could take damage from the super villain Doomsday. It's completely lame to watch characters take full-on chest blasts from a powerful creature like that and take no damage.

Which brings me to what was the worst part of the movie: its inability to live up to its potential.

There was GREAT moment in the movie when Batman had Superman beat. The whole movie sets up Batman not trusting Superman, wanting to expose him as a fraud, and wanting to showcase what humanity has over super men.

He hits Superman with kryptonite and says, "Breathe it in. What you're feeling is fear."

Then he whips Superman a bit and says, "You're not brave. It's men who are brave."

And it was PERFECT. He defeated Superman right there. That was the death of Superman as we knew him. He's really not brave - he's just indestructible. He's a bruiser. A Punisher. Someone who has a really easy job, and Batman figured out how to beat him.

In a perfect world that doesn't involve box office numbers and studios, the movie should have gone on from there to be a Batman movie. It should be a Batman universe because Superman really should be dead.

Yet Snyder finished the film with Superman doing his same ole thing but now with a female counterpart and in the end, the world worshiped him in his physical death.

So you wanted Batman to kill Superman in the movie?

That would make it better?

The first thing I said after seeing the movie was that the soundtrack did it no favors.

Too many dour heavy scenes.

The fights needed more blood pumping music like the Bat trilogy.

Superman needed something more heroic and inspirational.

Wonder Woman's theme was just horrible. Sounded stupid and I cringed when I heard it.

I really think the music could have made a big improvement to the film if done better.

Yes because it would have been more honest.

I tried to pick out moments in the film that would have worked on their own. This film does WAY too much. Batman killing Superman could have happened. Batman and Superman needing to team up against a villain like Doomsday could have happened. Lex Luthor devising a plan to pit Batman vs. Superman could have been fine.

What we got was so jumbled and convoluted that I don't think I have the time to type it all out.

Pros:
-Batfleck
-Amy Adams lost the baby-fat

Cons:
-Wonder Woman (mug for the camera for a close up then cut to CGI version for fight scenes)
-Hammy Lex Luther
-Way too long
-Holly Hunter's lisp
-desaturated color
-shoehorning Lois into the final fight
-Martha? Why didn't he just say my mom? Because the writers needed a way to end the fight

Sidenote, why do they expect male actors to beef up for the role of super heroes that are super strong yet not woman? Casting Gadot and not making her look ripped is like telling Henry Cavill to not work out. Why do we accept one but not the other?

Most bipolar thread I've ever seen on TD. People loved and hated every aspect of this movie. Literally every aspect was either loved or hated. It's comical reading through all this shite.

I saw it today and enjoyed it. First hour was slow as hell but it picked up in a big way. Affleck was great. Loved the grizzled, beaten down Batman. The fight with Superman was worth my $8. Wonder Woman was awesome and the fight with Doomsday was pretty pimp.

It's in no way the "worst movie of all time" nor does it deserve a 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. The amount of hate the movie has received is laughable.

Which is funny because the Audience Score is like 74%. Trust the audience in this one. The movie has its flaws but it's a solid watch.

I knew going in that eisenberg was a horrible choice for lex luthor and man was i proven right. The guy is just an awful and annoying actor. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

I thought the movie was good. Had some parts I didn't quite get, but not bad. Prolly should've been split into two movies so the whole batman background wouldn't have been rushed. I give it a 7/10.

I read a lot of hate this movie has gotten on this thread and personally think yall don't know how to just sit back and enjoy a superhero movie without bitching about every freaking detail. The funny thing is that every one of yall that are bashing the movie into the ground will be paying to see the next dc snyder movies no doubt.

I've never seen anything like it. And it's not just on this board. Whether you love it or hate it, there's entertainment to be found in looking at the reactions.

Watched the movie tonight and was so disappointed. I thought it was absolutely terrible. I own every Superman movie and the vast majority of the batman movies so I had very high hopes for this one. I was confused the entire time, felt like I was watching about 5 movies that had been cut together.

WTF was Bruce Wayne doing flying out of the water well in the beginning of the movie?

When did batman start killing people, especially with guns?

I still can't figure out exactly why Superman wanted to stop batman and why batman hated Superman so much to the point that he wanted to kill him. Then just the mere mention of the name Martha and he wants to be his best friend and partner in crime? Really?!?

WTF was that batman suit? Seemed like an Iron Man batman suit

Why would Superman go dive down for a piece of kryptonite?!? Lois is right there and can swim but instead he dives down there? We're talking about kryptonite here, the same one that strips him of his powers and leaves him completely incapacitated. That being the case, how does Superman fly holding kryptonite in order to stab Zod? That made zero sense!!!

Why did Zod have to come back as this freakin 100' tall crazy thing? Zod was a very good soldier, would've rather see him duke it out with Superman as his normal self.

I'm still just amazed at how they make a movie putting them against each other when there was really no build up to the hatred between them. God that was freakin terrible. I should've went and seen Deadpool.

I only read a couple of your points because you've proven yourself to not be taken seriously but...

Re: flying out of the water well...

LISTEN the next time you watch a movie. It might make things, you know, make sense.

Re: the spear. Do you not remember how it was trapped under a rock underwater? Lois is going to get that? OK.

This is why people give movies bad reviews--they're too dense to actually understand anything going on in the movie. Jesus.
