Sounds too much like Rogue One, which I like mainly because (unlike Luke Skywalker in the ST) they did Vader so well. I personally prefer lightsabers in Star Wars movies and would rather see a film about ancient Jedi and/or Sith.

Same answer that explains Colin Trevorrow’s career. Where the frick did he come from to direct a new JP trilogy?
Thats a good example too. My only caveat would be that he at least had directed a movie recently before that. Still... like what would a a showrunner/exec even go off of to pick these people. They had like zero work to go of.

Thrawn should be developed good, yeah . Interesting character . Most game of thrones caliber writing yet .

They will film it, not like it, fire the director, hire Ron Howard, film 85 percent of it again, balloon the budget up to $400 million in reshoots, and be unable to turn a profit even after grossing $1.1 billion. It’s the Kennedy way.
Don’t forget hiring an acting coach for the lead.

And then essentially directed an episode of a TV show every 3 years until she got the Wonder Woman movie
You’re forgetting that she was brought into the Thor franchise before bailing on that (and for Thor II, I don’t blame her). Nothing wrong with waiting for the right film.

They usually pull lesser known directors to do blockbusters for known IPs because 1. You can pay them less 2. They are happy to take the opportunity and 3. They will more easily fall in line when the studio tells them what they can and can not do and what they must do.

Probably an exec thinking “I can make this director do what I want them to do without any issues”

I just don't see how you can do Rogue Squadron justice without Luke and Wedge and you can't use the original actors and no other actor can do.
This is why I would never sign up for this crap with you dumbasses out there.

All of you guys suck. As a lifelong player of XWing, Tie Fighter, reader of the X Wing novels, screw all you haters.
Give me Top Gun with X-Wings. Shut up and take my money.

120% Stunning, 234% Brave.
I for one look forward to the next episode of Star Woke.

Who is sitting at the producers meeting of Wonder Woman and goes "Yall remember that movie from 15 years ago where Charlize Theron was super ugly?"
This got a downvote for what i can only assume is someone thinking im saying "pfft....unqualified woman got a job cause shes a woman"
Im not. I honestly have no idea how hollywood works.
I think she is great for this but I dont understand how directing jobs work either. I think Michael Bay only directed music videos before getting Bad Boys and I want to say Spielberg had mediocre credits before getting his first film.
They all have talent but luck is 80% I guess..never give up

That would have to be darker than Disney wants for their intended audience IMO, but it would be incredible.

You don't sign up for Disney+ because Luke and Wedge couldn't be in this?
Seems oddly specific

But now, she's got a big hit on her resume and a big sequel about to release. She's no longer a nobody, she's in demand. And from that clip, it sounds like she has a genuine connection to the concept. It didn't look "woke", it looked like she wants to honor daddy- the daughter of a hotshot fighter pilot wants to make a film about a squadron of hotshot fighter pilots (set in the SW galaxy).
It could be bad, or it could be very good.
Added- she did a good job with Steve Trevor in WW. If we're going to take that as a cue, I think it's going to be alright.

I wasnt commenting on her getting this job. I just looked at her credits because she did and her pre-WW to WW resume made no sense logically to me.

The Russos did two low profile comedies and some work on tv comedy series before they were given the keys to the MCU kingdom.
We already explained why this happens. They aren’t brought on because of track record. In addition to what I already mentioned, some of these out of nowhere directors have a passion for the material and have done some behind the scenes work on projects that you and I never hear about until years later. Joss Whedon helped on rewrites with Toy Story 2.
Things happen.

Patty has never directed a movie with a male lead.
So this is probably going to have a female lead
