It looks good but does anyone else get the feeling there is too much going on in this movie?
Not saying that you'll be wrong, but they've reported a few times that the Justice League characters do not have a great deal of screen time. It's possible that they have a presence in the teasers and trailers because they're eye-candy for comic fans and set this Superman origin apart from the others.

I'm not a fan of Superman not being the first superhero in his universe, but at least they're trying something new.

If Hawkwoman and Guy Gardner work here and on Peacemaker (and it's a safe bet that Fillion will kill it), it would be great to use them and NoHo Hank Metamorpho to tie Gunn's films together.

There was a lot of stuff in there that definitely doesnt inspire the confidence that this will just be a timeless, good Superman story and not a "ripped from the headlines" social commentary.

They tried to write a script where Luthor was a wealth and power distributing socialist, but it never really worked for the character. He believes in science, that's about as left-wing as they could get him for you.

I kinda like that they're going with C tier heroes in the movie. Let other writers and directors come up with their version of Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Hal Jordan or John Stewart Green Lantern

Y'all think I'm hating on James Gunn for no reason?

OK.

He even used his own dog as the model for Krypto.

It’s all about James Gunn.

That the point.

From the trailers, casting on this looks terrific. Rachel Brosnahan Is going to make a great Lois Lane (not a surprise). And, most importantly, looks like they got a great actor to play Superman. Can’t wait to see this and I’ve been very critical of DC films, even Gunn’s Suicide Squad. But this one looks like a hit.

I like James Gunn and enjoyed all the GOTG movies, but... don't care for the CGI Superdog. Really think that's going to bother me if it's all through the movie.

One of the latest incarnations of Lex is that he hates Superman because he's an alien. This isn't a stance against illegal immigration (that I know of), but a retooling of the character to give his deep hatred and competition against Superman something more plausible than the Silver Age's "he's the reason I'm bald "

Lex is a self-made genius and billionaire, he's the ultimate Type A, narcissistic personality who believes humanity should rely on its own ingenuity and ambition to progress (just like he did). That personality also drives him to control as many of the things in his life as possible. He sees Metropolis as "his" town.

When he looks at Superman, he sees someone whose alien DNA gave him a winning Lotto ticket, meaning he hasn't worked for the vast powers he has. He also sees Superman's power and following as being a direct threat to his desire for control of his greater surroundings as well as making those who adore him too complacent to ever achieve like he (Lex) has. Because of these things, he's deeply jealous of Superman and considers him a threat to not only himself, but the entire human race and that Superman has simply fooled everyone into believing he's helping.

While some will undoubtedly try linking it to "right-wing hate of a Maryland dad," they are shallow thinkers looking for something from entertainment to justify their political stance. Meanwhile, they're missing out on a deeper, more interesting story about the dangers of being too smart and too ambitious.

I like the look of it, I will go see it.

Every Superman fan boy that still touches himself to Superman soloing Steppenwolf and rendering the remainder of the Justice League useless, will dislike this portrayal of the character. The rest of us will enjoy it.

They've been hammering the idea that Lex hates Superman because he's an alien for at least 20 years now - Lex feels Superman is taking away the global accolades that he should receive. This isn't a recent development tied to politics.

The only people doing that are the Snyder weirdos that simp for a guy that had no understanding of the character (because they don't either)

Everyone else is very enthusiastic

It’s up to how good the movie is.

But James Gunn can’t help being himself.
