Nothing, they have learned

Star Wars director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has said "it's about time" a woman shaped a Star Wars film after the beloved sci-fi franchise has gone close to half a century with films directed only by men.

Well, a man created the franchise. “Star Wars” is not some god given right that deserves to be equally shared across all demographics. Women could create an alternate franchise if it’s “about time”. These people are so damn stupid it hurts.

Guarantee any project she works on won’t see the light of day. They already axed Rogue Squadron that was going to be directed by the woman who directed Wonder Woman 1984. Thank God.

I have no problem with a woman directing a Star Wars movie but when you say shite like this it only makes the fanbase (rightfully) assume that it’s going to be a preachy mess with nothing but female leads to check a box

They already had a woman set to direct a Star Wars movie. Patty Jenkins. They fired her.

The Director role at Disney is a checkbox. They don’t know what they are shooting half the time, much less why. The action scenes were done by CGI three years ago during Covid.

Will someone who supports this kind of approach explain why this is important? I know we have them on here.

I'd love to have this conversation one why a woman - "shaping" a franchise specifically - is an important thing to pursue. Why it has to be a woman. Why can't, I don't know, we just want someone who can tell good, multi-arc stories shaping the franchise. Man or woman. Wookie or Droid. I don't care. I just want good stories out of it that are not trying to get across some forced message.

Why is a woman "shaping" a beloved franchise better than just ANYONE who can do it well?

You literally can't make this shite up at this point.

Liberal arts women's college in Massachusetts.

Stanford.

And this is the opening line to her bio:

quote:

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Urdu: ????? ???? ?????; born November 12, 1978) is a Pakistani-Canadian journalist, filmmaker and activist known for her work in films that highlight gender inequality against women.

All this bitch has ever made were documentary SHORTS, and then the lowest rated Marvel show in the history of the studio, yet is rewarded with a Star Wars franchise/film after Lucasfilm is already decaying carcass 3 feet in the ground.

And people wonder why Nelson Peltz is trying to overthrow the Disney board???

The truly ironic thing is by continuing these asinine statements and movies, they are running chances for the films to be taken seriously.

Did she miss the part where the entire franchise was shaped around a woman in the lead role of the sequel trilogy?

It’s like the studio is actively trying to find people who will turn the fan base away.

It is a very negative sign anytime someone talks about their race or gender in terms of why they should be hired.

Notice how she isn’t fighting for gender inequality in Pakistan where it’s probably actually needed

When did any star wars director use their gender as reason needed for film making?

George never said, "oh I'm right for this job because I'm a man"

Like why is this ok?

Awesome. Then make a kickass Star Wars film with a female lead.
