Sigibrit (sp?) was never fully with Aethelwold. He was torn between loyalty to Wessex/country and his dislike of Edward. In the end Wessex won out. That’s how I interpret it at least.

One minor thing that bothered me was the character Steapa. I feel like they were going for a Leafrich type guardsmen who sympathized with Uhtred but served the King. He fell really flat, IMO

IIRC, Steapa is supposed to just be a fairly dumb person, but is a great fighter that can follow orders. I think he tends to get along with Uhtred, but he knows who he takes orders from.

Alfred is an incredibly written character and the actor playing him is absolutely perfect in every way. It’s just perfect casting. The show will lose a lot when (if) it continues without him.

The relationship between Uhtred and Alfred is constantly evolving and growing, on both sides. Seems realistic, with it’s ups and downs.
I agree, but I also think they made a good choice with Edward if they will show how Uhtred can help mold him into a strong leader.

Alfred was such an a-hole in this one. The dude gave him the Kingdom he had. Took him from the friggin marshes and still wanted him tried dead. Skade woman looked familar can't place her but she was alright.

I am not sure if there are magic in the Last Kingdom or not. Was disappointed there was no romance between Uthred and Athelfead, that was a diviation from the book. Same with Hild and Uthred. Hild for some reason tickle my fancy.

They made a good edward and he was clearly not an arse like his father when it comes to sound advice.I hope the mother dies next season.

What really piss me off was Athelwold. He needed to be blood eagle in my opinion. I liked Ragnar the Younger and for him to die like that...

Brida and him had an open relationship so it's not a problem. I missed the bond Uthred, Ragnar and Brida had, now that's over.

Only in the sense that many of the characters believe there is. I mean, this is still pretty much a historical fiction telling the formation of the country known as England through the eyes of fictional Uhtred.

Just finished season 3. I like this show more than Game of Thrones. There, I said it.

He is just 100% lotal to Alfred + the warrior equivalent to a see ball hit ball football player in the books

In the books though, he isn't opposed to finding gray areas in his orders to help Utred such as delaying action

I thought this was a good season. I really enjoyed the early and mid episodes. I thought the last couple of episodes did flag just a bit.

I agree with those who have said that the actor who played Alfred was excellent. The actress who plays his wife also does a good job, albeit in a pretty unlikeable role.

Its been a while since I read the books, but I thought Ragnar got a little better shake in them, and that Athelwold was a little more pitiful and a little less dangerous.

Oh, and I know its because of historical persons, but its kind of aggravating that so many characters have named that begin with Al... or Ae...

3 was a really good season. My only complaint is the end felt a bit rushed, like they needed another 30 minutes to an hour to give everything that happened the level of detail it deserved.

Would’ve been fun watching Ragnar and Uhtred drive the annoying Saxons into the ocean. Outside of Beocca, Hild and the warrior priest they all would’ve deserved it.

I mean just wrecking shop, full Viking onslaught instead of dealing with Alfred and his terrible wife all season.

Watched S3 last week and enjoyed it. Hated to see Ragnar go. Few people saying they didn’t like he villains but I think Athelwold, Skade, Cnut, Æthelred, and even Lady Aelswith were all pretty good. All had different motivations and had different strengths and used different tactics to reach their goals. I hope they do a season 4. Beocca is one of my favorite characters and I can’t wait to see him unhinged and giving zero fricks.

I watched episodes 3 and 4 tonight...I was NOT expecting Ragnar to die so soon, and in the way that he did. Ragnar disappointed me somewhat this season. He was a badass character in S1 and S2, and basically became a Dane version of Bobby B this season...just wanted to drink and whore around. I’m shocked Brida was okay with his cheating because of how county she is, despite what she said about being infertile.

I was genuinely concerned when Ragnar died minus sword about him not going to Valhalla. Without saying too much I was happy with this change in the end. I really enjoyed this season but also felt the villains could have been done better.

I keep waiting for them to show how great of a killer Uthred is but they seem content with him being very good as opposed to better than everyone except possibly Finan. All in all this season may have been my favorite. Really hoping they don't cancel this one also.

Finished the season last night. Agreed that it wasn't as good as 1&2, but still really well done.

My only issue (and the same with GoT) is that they go to the well too many times with the "battle seems lost until X army arrives just in time to save the day" trope.
