Just finished it

Honestly I enjoyed season 1 and 2 more. I was okay with the way everything ended but I just feel the way Alfred and Uhtred “fell out” wasn’t really believable. Alfred sparing Aetholwold and only taking an eye wasn’t a joke also. The villains were sort of a joke too this season.

About to fire it up, one of the best Netflix shows launched today and it's not even on their home page

Had to search to grab it

It was the featured show when I pulled up Netflix when I got home.

Just started the new season. I'm interested to see how they handle the rest of the series since Uhtred is a fairly old man by the end and the jump in years between books.

I'm a little baffled by Netflix's interface lately. Its like the graphic designers are on vacation so they don't put any of the big cards on the main page. Had to search for Narcos on Friday as well.

Mine looked like the Hallmark Channel Christmas lineup threw up all over it

The only thing that pisses me off is that I forgot about this until 9:30 last night. Didn’t get in bed until after 1:00 AM and had to pry my arse out of bed this morning. And with that, loving what I am seeing so far.

6 episodes in and man it’s been action packed so far...

There is a certain character that ranks up high on my list of most hated characters ever list (along with Skylar White, Debra Morgan...)

I just really didn’t think the villains were as good this season. The best one is Aethelwold. Sigurd, Cnut, and Haeston are all bumbling idiots

1 episode in and it’s great. This show deserves more publicity.

The show diverges from the books, as is common, and as I read the entire series (reading the new release 11th book right now) a while back, sometimes I get characters confused. Does Skade represent the girl Uhtred humped in a drug induced state in the cave? I don’t remember her name. Guess I’ll have to skim Death of Kings again.

No, there was a Skade in the books.

I haven't read the books but I thought it was going to be impossible to match season 2's antagonists also the main returning characters/cast are so much better than the new additions for season 3.

The meeting with Uhtred and Alfred is an incredibly satisfying scene, one of my favorites of the entire series.

You mean the meeting at the end of s3 right before Alfred dies? I agree very satisfying. As well as when Uhtred finally declares Alfred as his king.

Alfred is an incredibly written character and the actor playing him is absolutely perfect in every way. It’s just perfect casting. The show will lose a lot when (if) it continues without him.

The relationship between Uhtred and Alfred is constantly evolving and growing, on both sides. Seems realistic, with it’s ups and downs.

Just finished it. This season was good in every way except the villains. Like some mentioned earlier, their motivation didn’t real seem legitimate to me.

David Dawson (Alfred) is one hell of an actor, I was glad for the relationship between him and Uhtred to get some closure.

One minor thing that bothered me was the character Steapa. I feel like they were going for a Leafrich type guardsmen who sympathized with Uhtred but served the King. He fell really flat, IMO.

Lady Elswith is up there with the worst wives in a series as well.

Really hope they get renewed for a 4th season

It has to keep going right? Edward eventually drives the Danes all the way to the north of England, historically speaking. Plus Uhtred has to reclaim his home land at some point.

Couple things bothered me with the last battle that felt rushed that could have used some explanation, even if you can guess. Why did the nobleman side with Wessex at the end, and how did the queen end up leading the Mercian army?

Pretty sure Lord Sigurd arrived to the battle and realized the Danes were getting slaughtered and decided to abandon Aethelwold. And from what I gathered through the season was that Aethelfled had her own group of men at her Droitwich estate. The next season will be interesting to see where they take the Aethelfled/Adhelm vs Aethelred story line
