Couple of thoughts (most of this already said)
1. Kendra/the Mom 100% started it. Not sure how anyone could believe her after the constant lying.
2. A lot of people on reddit saying that the daughter was in on it too. I didn't catch that vibe. The only thing that does throw me off is her reaction to it all made it seem like she wasn't surprised. But that was probably due to shock. Also, it is tough having your own mother do that. I would imagine you are more forgiving to your own mom. Maybe more understanding and rationalize it better.
3. You can tell the other girls (I think Sophie and Khloe) were bullying/assholes to the daughter and probably Owen's cousin as well. They gave off a bitchy popular girl vibe. Khloe's parents SUCKED. Your daughter clearly sucks too. They danced around that.
Article below (got off Reddit to get around paywall) gives more detail in to how obsessed the mom was. It also explains how she got a picture of the phone case at the Christmas party (a detail the doc skipped over to create suspense I guess). The mom seemed to insert herself and create other drama that the doc didn't touch on. Lengthy article, but it helps gives some more background on how crazy the mom was.

There are a lot of logical reasons for him to want to distance even if she wasn't involved. Just to put a difficult time behind him is one. A big one would be that the daughter so easily forgave the mom and he could have some resentment over that.
But her non-reaction made me think she at least knew what was happening by then, even if she wasn't the one doing it.

I don’t care if she was a mean girl. They didn’t deserve to be dragged through all that shite because of a psycho mom and an incompetent Sheriff and police department. I was thinking the whole time, can’t they just get someone to scrub the phones and trace for IP addresses or something. I’d be pissed too.
The mom definitely wanted to get with Owen. Creepy.

I think Owen and his parents believe the entire Licari family were involved or at least knew what was happening.
I don’t know if I completely buy that, but I think the daughter and husband both suspected at one time or another that it was the mom. The daughter’s non-reaction to me seemed to be the look of someone that just confirmed their own suspicions.

As others have said, the daughter's non reaction is of either shock or she knew already. I can't say how I would react to something this but it just seemed eerily calm.
You can tell it really messed up the dad. I can't imagine what the heck he was going through. No way I would let my face be shown. Had to be a huge payday

I think Lauryn sent the first messages but then the mom took over and it got out of control.
Even in her after interviews Lauryn had almost no emotions on it.

I think the daughter is mentally fricked from her mom’s emotional reliance of her. Created a symbiotic bond that she seems too young to be aware of. The prison text show just how screwed up it is. Daughter gonna need a lot of therapy.

Why did she only go to prison for a year? She tried her best to get someone to kill themself, and even threatened to do it herself.
That woman is bat shite crazy. She tried her absolute best to ruin 2 childrens lives, as well as her own daughters. How any parent could tell their own kid to kill themself is beyond fricked up.
Either something is wrong with the daughter, and/or she's just been broken by all of this. There is no way she should forgive her mother, or ever talk to her ever again.
I cannot understand her reaction when finding out, or saying she still loves her mom and what not after she's out of prison. A normal person wouldn't act that way.

I didn’t think it was super obvious but I did call it early (but questioned myself bc wtf why would a mom do that) when they would show the reenacting scenes and it would show the boy mom’s face but not show the girl mom’s and it was a stand in.
Probably, and rightfully so, because the boy mom refused to be anywhere near girl mom.

2) How was she able to list the Florida area code on the phone when the girl was on vacation in Florida?
