didnt feel bad for andy because he got his dream job at cornell and they showed him giving a really good commencement address so he's probably feeling pretty good about himself

felt a little bad for toby, but i thought it was funny how they stuck to toby's storyline that NOTHING good happens to him

I haven't gone through all the pages, so I'm not sure what has been said.

However, I thought this was one of the best series finales that I have ever seen.

no that was to be his departure. He talked all about it.

NBC's The Office spinoff wasn't picked up, but they aired it last Thursday night. The Farm would've starred Rainn Wilson's character Dwight Schrute and his cousin Mose on their Pennsylvania beet farm.

Filming on the final season of The Office finished this week, but Wilson has already been cast in a new show. He'll star in CBS series Backstrom, based on a Swedish book series, as "an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries, and fails, to change his self-destructive behavior."

Wilson apparently turned down a "six-episode offer" for NBC's series Donor Party and several other offers for Backstrom. We're not sure if he'll be able to move beyond Dwight, but here's hoping.

That episode was originally a backdoor pilot. I believe it was supposed to air towards the beginning of the season. Dwight would have only been in 13 episodes of season nine departing some time after the backdoor pilot aired. After it was filmed, NBC passed on it. 'The Office' producers then re-shot some scenes, moved it back to episode 17, and changed the story line.

"The Farm" was produced to serve as a backdoor pilot for a proposed spin-off series starring Wilson as Dwight, which NBC ultimately did not pick up. The episode received mixed-to-negative reviews from television critics, with many criticizing Dwight's farm storyline and some critics calling it a "Frankenstein episode". The episode was viewed by 3.54 million viewers and received a 1.9/5 percent rating among adults between the ages of 18 and 49. The episode ranked fourth in its timeslot, and it was the highest-rated NBC series of the night.

Just got done watching it. Like most others in this thread I thought it was a great finale. I have been with this show since the first episode, and I have look forward to nothing more on Thursday night tv than this show. Even last season when it fell off a bit, and Community and Parks and Rec were better overall shows, I still saved this one for last whenever I had to catch up because the anticipation for a new episode of the Office was unmatched for me. I was 12 when I saw my first episode, weird to think about all the time that has passed with this show on the air. It's the first 5 seasons + show I've had the privilege to watch from start to end.

In reference to the actual episode, like I said I thought it was great. Wrapped up many story lines very well. I got a little emotional when Michael made his appearance because I must be gay or something like Kevin. The ending was tough to handle too with all their speeches and how much they'd miss it. All-time great.

Great ending to a great series. Probably went a season or 2 too long, but it was still watchable until the end. Much better than the Seinfield finale which had similar hype building up to it.

I am already looking forward to going back and watching the Retrospective on my DVR when I get off of the tugboat next week.

As for the episode, I thought it was great right when it ended, but it has continued to get better and better the more I replay it in my head. So many great moments, but the "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them." quote from Andy was simply amazing. That one hit home as soon as it left his mouth.

Damn. It's hard to make a finale better than that one.
One of the best.

So if The Farm got picked up, does Jim stay in Scranton and become manager?

While this is true it was fitting for Toby not to have things go his way. It's sad but that's the ending Toby should have got

I haven't read all 34 pages so sorry if mentioned.

But when I was watching it, towards the end, it looked like everyone had some secret surprise in store for Toby. Daryl, Pam, etc told him that he REALLY needed to go to the party. Then when they're all in the warehouse, a few people kind of give each other a smile and a nod like they were putting some plan into place for Toby.

Was their plan just the whole gang hanging out upstairs? I was waiting for them to do something really nice and special for him, then nothing happened. Or is that kinda the point?

That's a good question. I say no. I think the finale would've been not as good and they would've found a new person to be manager. Or maybe Jan.

What would've happened to Angela? Does she get rich divorcing the Senator?(which I don't understand how that didn't happen anyway)
