Star Wars isn’t Jurassic Park.
Star Wars has a ton of possibilities, they just aren’t thinking and using the material that’s been used for 20-25 years

First time I've seen those scenes since opening night. Man that movie sucked.

As much flak as fans give the prequels, I don't think any of them had quite the negative impact that The Last Jedi had on the franchise. While the prequels weren't nearly as well done as the original trilogy, they still felt like Star Wars movies.
The sequel trilogy doesn't feel like Star Wars. In fact, it's like a totally different and new franchise.

Something he brought up that I also noticed was how the story which is meant to be a Good vs. Evil story turned into a completely gray area of ambiguity. I called it nihilistic, but ambiguity is the same thing. It really kills any emotional investment(there was no emotional investment in this movie anyways) because you don't really know whats supposed to be right or wrong...which means you dont know who to root for or why.
Star wars has always had the classic good vs evil story line and detailed how good vs evil was a battle within everyone.

Holy shite, I would have never thought to compare it to National Lampoons Vacation but it totally makes sense.

Exactly my thoughts. Everything still felt like Star Wars and Lucas being involved probably had a lot to do with that IMO.
TFA simply felt like ANH soft reboot, nearly a carbon copy.
TLJ threw everything that made Star Wars great out of the window and it was even more sidetracked for the sake of feminism strangely. YAY KATHLEEN KENNEDY

Ive been complaining since the begining that the resistance is way too chipper at the end with what just happened.
Everybody's fricking dead including space Jesus Luke and they're all just cracking jokes and having a good time like wtf

Just wrapped it up. I was surprised that he didn’t compare it to Infinity Wars and Blade Runner, two movie sequels that came out within the same year and why those two work at subverting expectations and TLJ fails miserably.
But yeah, comparing it to National Lampoon’s Vacation is brilliant and makes total sense once you put it in context. I’m not sure if he’ll do Episode IX though.

He kind of insinuated at the end that he has no intention of watching Episode IX.

They have no intention for getting millions of guaranteed views? I doubt that.

Oh God I can't do that voice. Does he talk like that the whole time? It's the same voice your drunk friends make when they are telling stories they are too drunk to finish. An hour review of a two hour movie?

Personally, I'm okay with that to an extent. I actually think making it more ambiguous can make it feel more real. This movie just did such a hammy, childish job of it.

Then what's at stake in an ambiguous film?
If there's no right or wrong then what's the conflict?

It was pretty good but you can tell they're sick of it at this point. The prequel versions were labors of love, this felt like they were more going through the motions, though it was still great.

Agreed didn't feel nearly as quality. I think they've also beat Star wars to death so much its hard for him to find anything new to say at this point and he even showed the scores of YouTube videos detailing it.

There are plenty of great movies and shows that pull this off.
