Prometheus is the one that jumped out to me.

As an adult, when I watch ROTJ after the first two, it seems to be a movie of noticeably lower quality.
Same, but it was one of the first movies I saw in the theatre as a kid so it imprinted on me and nostalgia is powerful. But I also remember my older cousins who had stood in line to see Star Wars in 1977 were like "what the hell was all of that teddy bear and brother/sister shite?"

Same. I saw Star Wars and Empire on poor quality bootleg VHS. As I got older it was obvious RotJ was the weakest of the 3 but it still holds a special place for me.

Way too many posts to not post the #1 spot for this question:
Show me where she dropped it on purpose? Looks like she got knocked out.

I won’t and can’t show you that, because it didn’t happen. Because her dropping it on purpose makes the movie devoid of meaning and everyone’s journey moot.

It’s half great and half weird. Still easily #3 in all of SW cinema.

quote:Luke, Vader and Emperor easily make the movie, pretty sure everyone would agree. Outside of that, it’s fairly meh outside of Ewoks treating C-3PO like a diety and him recounting the journey to that point and Admiral Ackbar‘s “It’s a trap!” - and I was a huge SW fan growing up. I don’t hate the Jabba stuff, but that was pretty dumb plan.

Yep
The good
- Vader, Luke, Emperor
- Lando redemption
- Jabba’s palace
- battle outside DS2
The bad
- Leia and Luke siblings
- Ewoks
- battle on Endor
3PO was funny but the situation was silly so if you’d say comedic or dumb I wouldn’t argue either way.

pretty much every Nolan movie post Inception has been polarizing
Oppenheimer being the lone exception

Luke and Leia was ridiculous and no one in my demographic (grew up the OG Star Wars as kids) were close to liking the Ewoks. It was a different time and even 11-12 year olds wanted Luke, Vader and Emperor - and Slave Girl Leia (lol) - not Teddy Bears.

Same, Ewok scenes were the “go grab some more snacks and a drink” parts of the movie for us.

Jojo Rabbit or at least I remember one poster had some severe issues with it.

I was 6 when it came out. I worshiped Luke but I freaking loved me some Ewoks. I totally get why older people don’t but I still have a soft spot for them to this day.

quote:I can understand. I was 12 and my group was probably mostly in the 11-14 age range and we generally thought they were too cutesy, but I can see being a little younger age group and really liking them. I preferred the Jawas in the original Star Wars, devilish little bastards.

The most overrated movie in this boards history:
Mad Max: Fury Road

Drive is brilliant. Don’t remember it being polarizing but maybe so.
This may seem like a snapshot, but it’s actually a 16 minute GIF.
I like it. But it’s got some odd parts.

Man of Steel was super polarizing when it hit, and brought on more discussion of Superman Returns
