Drive (2011) I remember being super divisive on the early days of the board. Easily one of the most contentious movie discussions ever in the boards history. I’m curious what the consensus of the movie is on the board 15 years later.

One Battle After Another discussion will be very divisive due to the politics of the movie, and unfortunately turn any thread discussing the movie into an annoying political flame posting. With that being saying said politics aside I did not like this movie at all.

The Last Jedi might get mentioned a lot but I think the mass consensus on the board was agreeing that it was a giant pile of shite.

Jay Are's long, detailed essay on the film was divisive, but ultimately valuable

I think you have to include 12 Angry Men if you look up about three threads.

The spectrum of horror afficionados can be very torn on what some say are high water marks in the genre from the last decade or two:

It Follows
Hereditary
The Witch

Those are the first three that come to mind. I didn't enjoy any of those and don't understand what all the fuss is about, but some love them and proceed to lose their minds if anyone besmirches them.

Way too many posts to not post the #1 spot for this question:

What makes them polarizing? Why can people discuss one show and some like it, some don't, some criticize it, some love it, but nobody chimes in with a "frick the haters" style post. For other shows any criticism isn't just disagreed with, it's not welcome as part of the discussion.

Unless you have some personal connection to the show, like your daughter stars in it, you shouldn't be bothered because someone has different tastes.

It really was.

Literal nazis and wouldn't you know it, they loved getting secretly pegged by black chicks.

How was Three Billboards received on here?

Its one of my least favorite movies I've ever seen.

If I remember correctly, there was definitely some discourse over The Dark Knight Rises.

This.

As someone who's been a huge fan of the Alien franchise for as long as I can remember, I for the love me cannot understand how this movie can get so much praise.

I can understand and appreciate what Ridley Scott was trying to do, but the execution was just...terrible.

haha i like that movie a lot. it definitely has some problems, mainly like scientists doing unthinkably stupid things, but overall i really like it. interestingly, i did NOT like it upon first viewing in the theater, but i like it more with each rewatch.

Recency bias at play, but The Odyssey generated a lot of polarization.

Usual suspects is a fantastic movie but there's a contingent on here that seem to think it sucks simply because of the information we learn at the very end, and how that relates to the rest of the movie.

I don't recall the pegging scenes, did we watch the same movie?

Okay, sue me. Looked like pegging to me.

The point remains. He's a literal nazi who secretly enjoys the sistahs. You know, like all of those nazis do.
