Just signed up for AMC A-list yesterday.

No AMC near me. I'm waiting for Cinemark to realize their deal is even more worthless and unappetizing that MoveiPass's current deal.
For 8.99/month, you get one ticket ad 20% off concessions. Each additional ticket is still full price.
I go on Sunday mornings, so I'm actually losing money on the ticket cost if I buy into that.
Hopefully, they come around soon.

Numerous people on reddit have reported that even after they cancelled MoviePass, they were charged for the next month.
Some credit cards offer you the ability to generate a virtual credit card number tied to your account. I have a Citi bank card which does this. I generated a card number, gave it a limit of $5 and set it to expire in 2 months. I added it to my account as the billing source then cancelled the account. If they try to charge me again, it will not go through on that card.
MoviePass has lost me. I was willing to accept the 3 movie a month limit but not when they are also going to tell me which movies I can see. Today, just 2 options. No more from me, you gone MoviePass!

I have a Citi card and I had no idea I could do this. I added a virtual number to my account and will do it to my wife's. Thanks for the heads up

If you want a laugh, go about 23 minutes in and listen to Ted Farnsworth of MoviePass lie his arse off. He really thinks he’s in the same league as Netflix and Amazon.

Was able to cheat the system this weekend and see Christopher Robin. MoviePass was only allowing people to see Crazy Rich Asians or Black Klansman so I bought a ticket to Crazy Rich Asians and walked into Christopher Robin. Thank goodness the AMC by me has not gone to reclining seats that are reserved. I'll continue doing this until my membership expires and then go to AMCs program.
One thing I found odd is that I still had to take a picture of my ticket stub. They said that was no longer going to be required but it is still showing up for my husband and I.

You bastard!
I've been reading these articles where they refer to 15% of the users "abusing the system" and "ruining it for everyone else". Then I saw that their definition of abusing the system included seeing more than three movies a month. Screw'em.

Curious how people get to see more than 3 a month? I'm on the unlimited plan so I am not screwing them, just finding a way to see the movies I want to see and not the ones they pick out.

He was referring to the $9.95, one movie per day system that was in place for almost a year. 85% of the subscribers were seeing 3 movies or less a month. 15% were actually using the cards on a weekly basis.
Now they've made it extremely difficult for the normal user to see more than three movies a month.

Yeah Ive been defending these guys for too. Long. Didn't mind the no 3d or Imax, didn't even mind the price surge thing.
But today I want to see a movie and my only options are Mile 22 and Crazy Rich Asians. I cant imagine its going to get any better. I signed up for the annual plan so I really feel cheated.

I wanted to see MI last weekend and cancel before my next month billed out on the following Monday, but I forgot.
I'm definitely cancelling at the end of this month. MI is the only movie in theaters I want to see, and I can't even do that when it's been out for several weeks, because it's not on the "list" of movies they chose.
This shite is garbage.

Yeah they were deceptive from the start. They advertised and grew at an incredible rate because they said you could see a movie a day for $9.95/month, but if you actually tried to use the service as advertised you were "abusing the system." It's a shameless admission that they are hucksters.

Yup. Since MI came out 26 days ago, it has been listed as available in the app twice, but I couldn't go on those two days. I was willing to go to the three movies a month plan as long as I could actually see movies I wanted to see. But when they made the page showing the upcoming available movies, and MI was not listed, that was it for me.

Oh, also most of the indie movies they list aren't playing anywhere near me. Only Cameron Post, and I saw that already, as well as CRA. So today, for example, only one movie (Mile 22) is available for me.
But it turns out I'm actually seeing MI: Fallout today on MoviePass. I buy my tickets at AMC at the kiosk, and I've been accumulating points on my MoviePass purchases, so my ticket will be courtesy of MoviePass anyway.

That explains it. They claim that they have six movies available each day, but all but two are in limited release. That way their users in the majority of markets are prevented from using the app/card.
Bravo.
