I look forward to the Class Action Suit.

My app isn't showing any showtimes/movies beyond some random screenings of the MEG. Anyone else having this issue? I was under the impression that all movies would be available again with a limit of 3/month?

I just checked mine, and out of 14 movies playing at my theater today, I can only get tickets to the MEG and Crazy Rich Asians.
What a joke.
What a joke.

My account ends at the end of the month. Right now I have the choice of seeing The Meg or Crazy Rich Asians.
They gave me the "Hey, changes to the plan!" message. I did not click on Accept. I'll see if they try to bill me at the end of the month.

My next billing date is 8/22, so I can cancel before then.
I was looking around the cancel options, and I saw that you are blocked for resigning up for 9 months if you cancel.
That's great customer loyalty there. Drive them out, and if you do something right to fix it, don't let them back in.

One day about a week ago they had almost all movies showing, now they are back to showing only two. And The Meg is only showing up for the 1:00 and 4:00 show, so if you work then you can't go to that one. I don't see how they can legally get away with this but its not like they have any money to refund anyone.

Here's the new plan. "Choose up to 6 films daily." Limiting it to 6 movies a day would be sort of OK since they rotate and all the movies should eventually be available, but "up to 6" means that they can (and will) continue to limit it to one or two movies a day for the foreseeable future (since the 3 movies a month deal is still a money loser for them). They won't last another month or two.

I cancelled mine this morning. I was one of their helpful customers too. Only went about once a month.

Pro-tip
Numerous people on reddit have reported that even after they cancelled MoviePass, they were charged for the next month. To deal with this preemptively, I saw two great tips on reddit on how to avoid this hassle. Try one or the other.
1. Before quitting MoviePass, change the charge card to the MoviePass card itself. It should be accepted as a legit card. (Edit: whoops, may not work—see next post)
2. Use privacy.com to create a virtual charge card and use that.
I have not tried either technique so I can't vouch for either of these tips, I'm just passing them on.

To change it to the moviepass card you need a billing address

Ohhhhhhhh, right. Oh well, it sounded like a good tip.

Ok, so this is intentional and not a result of a glitch in the app? If it's a glitch I'll hold out but if this is what the service is going to be then I'm out.

Oh yes, it's absolutely intentional. They are actively trying to limit what you can see so you don't see as many movies.

Damn, I was fine with the 3 movie/month limit but with the obvious thought that all movies would be accessible.

If you see both available movies this week they will eventually limit you to one.

I canceled on the 28th of July and uninstalled the app. This is the last part of the email.

This article maps out the "Renew My Membership" scam.
This is where they get you:
If you click on "Accept", you're back as a member.

Yep. I was logging in just to see what movies were available and quickly clicked on that.
Got an email seconds letter thanking me for updating my subscription, when I canceled about a week ago.
Ugh. They really know how to piss someone off.
