This is a good call. That movie stayed with me for a while as well, but in a good/cool way.
Top 5 movie all time for me (and may be my favorite).

Agreed. This is required viewing for all teenagers IMO.
Gattaca and City of God are great nominations as well.
as for the OP, the one I found most "powerful/profound" is:
The Fountain

I will only base my anaswer on what is in my top 10.
And it is a draw between Snitch and Dead Man Down.

Seconds must be on this list as well. Rock Hudson gives an incredible performance in this.
Also can add to the list:
Time Crimes
Primer

You got your senses mixed up there little man.
And I have to go with the Matrix as well.
Runner up being Reign over Me, which I would assume hardly anyone has seen since it's a serious movie with Adam Sandler. Just hit home b/c I don't know what I would do if I lost my wife and kids, hell even my dog too all at the same time.

Many great suggestions.
Requiem and Trainspotting are up there. I would also say Pi and to a lesser extent Primer and Brick.
The ideas of Inception and The Matrix and Gattaca and Boyhood.
But the movie that was the most powerful for me was the Fountain. For whatever reason, that movie hits me like a ton of bricks every time I see it. It is astounding.

I fully agree. A thread could go on for many pages discussing this film. It's extremely powerful stuff that will destroy your emotions and keep your brain thinking for days.

The Prestige.
I started learning the ancient art of magic after watching this movie. Today I'm a legit magician.

Avatar. I remember walking a way with a small sensory high and just being like "hey, lets not be assholes to each other."
