Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was just horrible.

Damn you... I came here to post this and you beat me to it after 3 pages
You're right. Total slap in the face after reading all the books.

when I think of miscasting, I'm not usually comparing to the source material though that's valid, I'm thinking that actor can't carry off that role believably.
My additions are Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist in The World is Not Enough.
Mickey Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Sure there were tons of racially inappropriate castings in Hollywood: Burt Lancaster as american indian, Ricardo Mantalban as Japanese, etc. but Rooney was pretty insulting in his casting and portrayal even if it was intended as caricature.
also while he does OK in the role, I have a hard time watching The Hunt for Red October with Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan

Did anyone here ever see the Earl Long / Blaze Starr movie in the 90’s???
They casted one of the most handsome men in Hollywood history (Paul Newman) to play one of the ugliest Louisiana politicians ever (Uncle Earl).

Pretty sure that's a 1957 Ford Custom 300 4d sedan. A lot of the two door models were customized, and turned into hot rods in the 60's. Nice lines.
He was a fine looking man. May have been a Civil Defense member too. They were a civilian organization that did things Homeland Security does now.In the 60's, one of the big Civil Defense guys I knew was also in the Klan. Being in the Civil Defense made it OK for him to have boxes of dynamite and hand grenades at his home. When I was in 4th or 5th grade we found those in a storeroom while playing with his son.

Yep. He was a prideful, arrogant person. Sort of showed that in Clone Wars.
Within the morass of the prequel trilogy are the makings of some pretty good movies.

Much better casting for the Jack Reacher series.

Maybe.

Would have been a terrible casting, IMO.

Ditto for Michael B. Jordan in the Without Remorse reboot.

Aside from some TV appearances and forgettable film roles, Rooney's career had declined significantly during the 50s. I've read that Blake Edwards was basically throwing his old friend a bone by casting him. The portrayal of Yunioshi in the film was nothing like in the book.
Speaking of the film portrayal being nothing like the book, Truman Capote was pissed that Audrey Hepburn was cast as Holly. He wanted Marilyn Monroe, and the screenwriter wrote the script with Marilyn in mind. IIRC the line about Holly taking French lessons was made up to explain Audrey's accent.
Ironically, Audrey was sort of miscast in another one of her iconic roles as Eliza Doolittle. She couldn't sing, but Jack Warner wanted a bankable star for My Fair Lady, so he wasn't willing to risk having Julie Andrews reprise her stage role. So of course Andrews got the role of Mary Poppins instead and won the Oscar for Lead Actress.

And I've always thought he fit the role well while Ford was terrible.
But then I hate Ford in about everything.

Now, I'm more convinced this was the fault of Lucas for abysmal directing and the weak writing. I always imagined a younger Anakin as more of a Poe Dameron type, and less a whiny brat they made him into with Hayden.
Agreed. The writing was bad and the majority of the acting of the prequels was done in front of green screens.
I liked him so much better as Anakin/Vader in the new Obi-Wan series.
