It’s only been two episodes, but it feels like a made up Hollywood movie, not a docuseries based on real people and events.

Isn't the book it's based on historical fiction?

Meaning none of the characters are real.

is this going to be one central storyline and will we see fighter pilots or is it all bomber squadrons ?

I've read the "Red Tails" make an appearance.

Like that's a big surprise...

I see your racist undertones and condemn them with a Red Tail I built myself.

The Red Tails delivered their bomb groups to target, instead of engaging in the trap of dogfighting and leaving bombers unescorted and exposed.

I think you should travel more as travel would be fatal to your bigotry, prejudice and narrow mindedness.

Your virtue signaling is noted.

The red tails were a minor side note to the war and don't fit into this story of the 8th Air Force other than being shoe horned in to satisfy people like you that are more worried about race than reality.

exactly

the buck character is a little too cool, the bucky chatacter is a little too whacked, the navigator is a little too messed up, etc and this falls way short of BOB and the pacific because those guys werent tropes, they felt genuine and real.

these guys feel like Millenial or GenZ writers creating WW2 cliche characters and not regular people

the beauty of BOB and The Pacific is regular men doing extraordinary things

The CGI fighter runs at hyper speed in Ep 1 turned me right off. BF109s are not F14s in Top Gun. Even with closing speeds of both aircraft taken into account, it was way off.

It just seems to be getting worse in episode 3. The bombing runs are so disappointing. This show is a let down so far.

Maybe. But so far the show seems pretty close to their actual lives.

Buck and Bucky were definitely real people:
American Air Museum - Buck

American Air Museum - Bucky

Yep. And the CGI was even worse this episode. I've seen better explosions in video games than that crap they used for the dude that augered into the field. The B17 spinning around backwards was especially laughable. (It wasn't in a flat spin)

In Memphis Belle they used real planes so the air battle scenes are realistic for the most part. This is just ridiculous.

I doubt you will ever see that kind of filming again with these old birds.

There are only 4 B17s that are still airworthy (we have lost 3 since Memphis Belle was filmed). Hell they actually lost one in 1989 when they were filming Memphis Belle.

Horsechit

If that were the case the B-17 groups wouldn’t have taken the ridiculous losses they did in ‘43.

During the Shweinfurt/Regensburg raid in Aug ‘43 alone the Krauts put up over 400 fighters and downed/damaged over 130 B-17’s in a single day.

And don’t try to argue with me on this one… I’m half German so I’m fairly knowledgable on these matters. ;)

Like others have mentioned after watching the first 2 episodes its good but not on the level w BOB or pacific. I think its related to the broad items that BOB and pacific cover, lots of things to cover. With masters they are covering bombing runs and there are only so many ways to potray this. In no way am i questioning the bravery of the bomber crews but there are a wider range of stories for the directors to tell w the other series.

I think I’m at the point to say this show isn’t good. Not just “it’s just not BoB”, but it’s actually not good period

I think my main thing is it’s Hollywood cheese and insulting to the audience

In BoB, they don’t sell anything. On Spiers run, or Winters taking out the German unit on D-Day, they didn’t even tell you the audience how awesome it was. They didn’t use any cheesy lines or theatrics. They just showed it. Raw. Like it was real people. We the audience were able to feel how awesome it is and how heroic on our own. The pacific was the same way. just raw

In this show they cheese everything up to sell everything

“It’s suicide, but we will lead our boys through it”

“Let’s rack Em up and knock ‘Em down boys”

It’s just shite. Feels like theatre, not war

BoB and Pacific had plenty of moments to show heroic things were and guys running into the danger and unknown. In Masters the crews know what is going to happen, the heroism is much more mundane. They knew they were leaving safety to go into an absolute shite storm and many would not come back, they knew where they were going, and they knew how about how long it would take.

It's just two different kinds of bravery and kind of war, which leads to different story telling.

I think you missed my entire point. It’s how they show the heroism. In B0B and Paciric they didn’t gloss it up, they didn’t give you cheesy lines, they didn’t make the actors “characters”. This show is the exact opposite to me

I get where you are coming from. I have watched it with the idea that the bombing campaign was just so different it has led to telling the story differently.
