Executive produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, starring Academy Award-nominee Austin Butler. This miniseries tells the story of a bomber wing of the U.S. 8th Air Force in World War II.

A show about real men. Finally... looks like we get a little storyline on Tuskegee as well

I was wondering if they were going to include a plot line of shot down airmen that will have to try and get back to England through occupied Europe. Based on some hand to hand fighting scenes in there it looks like it does

My FIL, retired Air Force, has been waiting on this too.
We all visited the 8th Air Force museum in Savannah a few years ago. Nice museum if you've never been.

Looks great. I know they have been trying for this for a good while, but it was just too expensive with the technology at the time. Glad to see they were able to make it.

My body is ready.
Can't wait to watch with my Dad and share this as we talk about my Grandfather who was in the 305th Bombardment Group, and was a POW at Gulag 17.

I've been waiting for this ever since the rumors began that it would be made.
My great-uncle flew B-17's with the 549th Squadron, 385th Bomb Group out of Great Ashfield, England. He flew his 35 missions between May and October 1944, including two on D-Day. After World War II, he flew B-29, B-37, and B-52 bombers with SAC until he retired in 1965. After he retired, he never got on an airplane again because, he said, "If I'm not the pilot, then I'm not flying on it!" He passed away in 2009. He had some amazing stories from his career. I was very fortunate to have known him.

I'm worried about terrible looking CGI

I’m worried simply because so much of why comes out today just flops because of horrible choices. I want to believe though.

I'll sign up for Apple tv for this.

That too.
They do have Cary Fukunaga directing the first like 4 episodes and Tim Van Patten directing the last couple. That gives me hope. Tim Van Patten worked on The Pacific, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, a lot of HBOs greatest hits.
What scares me is that they have the people who wrote and directed Captain Marvel directing the middle episodes.

Anyone have the backstory on why HBO passed?

9Like many of you, I've been waiting a long time for this one, but I'm extra excited because we've been gathering detailed information on the service/military in our family for our 1st grader's veteran's day project. And my wife and I both realized we didn't know a lot of details ourselves.
My parents emailed me their findings 90 minutes ago, and in particular, apparently my paternal grandfather was a machine gunner and radio operator on B24 bombers for the 380th Bombardment Group in the pacific. So while this show follows the 100th Bombardment Group in Europe, it's still pretty exciting seeing this knowing my grandpa was flying in these around the same time in the same war.

Kinda pisses me off how hard it is to become a pilot these days.
These men learned it in a few months but college wants to drag it out over 4 years.
