Prove me wrong.

He should have won an Oscar for this, not “Training Day”.
Playing a crazy cop is 1000x easier than a low key, alcoholic body guard.

I remember when Kevin Spacey was interviewed for “American Beauty”. He said it was the hardest role he ever done, because any one can act crazy, pulling off a normal, hum drum person is very hard.

Agreed I loved it

I remember my favorite part was the first guy he takes out is laughing at first because he thinks Creecy doesn’t know who he is or who he’s affiliated with. The look on his face when Denzel tells him exactly who he’s working for and then proceeds to still cut his finger off then cauterize the wound with a cigarette lighter is priceless. Like oh frick I’m dead

It's an awesome movie but nobody's winning an Oscar for it.

Umm, didnt he play a pedo in that film, or taken in the light most favorable to him an old dude crushing on a teenage girl? It wasn't too much of a stretch for him.

Man On Fire is a good movie but let's not get carried away here. Training Day is on another level.

The fact that it was a girl he was crushing on made it a stretch. Top notch acting.

Having recently rewatched Training Day, Denzel deserves all the accolades. Its a Tour De Force with nuance.

Hawke is a wet blanket (not his fault, his role in the movie) but Denzel owns the screen.

That's why he won.

I can see the argument for Man on Fire but he doesn't own every scene like in Training Day.

Remember that scene where that girl was getting raped? Does anyone remember Ethan Hawke beating up the perps?

No, you remember. Denzel standing on the sidelines not saying a word smoking a cig.

It's his bigger than life John Wayne movie. Meaning he's almost bigger than the movie. He is the entire movie like many John Wayne movies.

It’s a nice, gritty film that’s better than one might expect.

Creasy had some of the most badass lines in a movie that I can remember. The more time one has been mentioned, but this is my other favorite.

quote:

Elderly Man : In the church, they say to forgive.

Creasy : Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting.

Also, this one was great, too.

quote:

Creasy : Okay, my friend. It's off to the next life for you. I guarantee you, you won't be lonely.

Man on Fire was awesome... Training Day was awesome. All Denzel movies are awesome because he's in them.. Training Day probably my favorite. (out of these two)

If your after his best performance Malcolm X, Training Day, Glory, and Philadelphia were all better performances. Picking his best movie is difficult. Probably Malcolm X.
