This scene pissed me off all over again that we will never get a definitive answer and all we will receive is vague hints and allusions to what really happened. GRRM is such a fat piece of donkey shite.

He said a few weeks ago that Dunk and Egg and the second half of the Targaryen history are his priorities. So we may get a book. He’ll do anything to avoid the main series.

On a side note, by the end of season 3 of this show, people are going to be begging for the Blackfyre Rebellion to be put on screen.

I could be misremembering but Dunk wasn’t approached about fixing the joust(winning) in the books correct?

Yes. Like the tug-o-war, they made it up for the show. This is a much bigger departure, though, as it would seem to possibly effect future events.

I'm not sure about that fortune either. I thought Aegon was the last good king.
Is this entire season going to be the tournament? Interesting how this show has taken place in just a few days. Also the drunk in the Inn was totally the other missing Targaryen.

Speaking of the inn, the innkeeper and fortune teller from the recent episode are the same lady. Not sure if we are supposed to read into that more or if they were just saving money.

I like this theory and I will believe this until the show proves otherwise

Unless they go off the reservation, the books don't cover it at all in any detail. I don't expect the show to cover Summerhall.

That being said, it would make for a really great stand alone movie. Have Martin give a 2 page synopsis of exactly what happens there and an outline then have writers make a script. Give Martin week to rewrite them start filming.

I can't remember anymore, but didn't some Targ King drink wildfire to try to resurrect the dragons/magic and started a big fire during a ritual?

Never mind I found it.

Prince Aerion Targaryen, commonly known as "Aerion Brightflame" or "The Prince Who Thought He Was a Dragon," drank a jar of wildfire in 232 AC. Believing it would transform him into a dragon, he instead died in agony. He was the son of King Maekar I and brother to Maester Aemon.

Im begging for one right now. Bloodraven, Daemon, Shiara Seastar, Bittersteel...it would be epic just from the characters alone nevermind the actual story

S1 is book 1.

Seeing that Eggs brother was Daerom the Drunken, I think that’s a pretty obvious one He actually was the one who shaved his head and helped him get away.

This is the book spoiler thread btw. Not saying that to be rude at all, just seems like maybe you haven’t read it so you might get spoilers you don’t want in here.

I read it. But I read a lot and I don't remember every detail. But I read the 3 novels and the main series.

I re-read it before the series started, my memory is so bad I had virtually forgotten everything except a few major parts.

Not sure if this is from the after episode specials or something else but I keep laughing at it

The fortune teller could mean everything or nothing. Such is the beauty of it.

She foretold the Tragedy of Summerhall. Aegon was trying to hatch dragon eggs (the last time it was attempted sans ASOIAF). Him and Duncan die in the fire and the nobility rejoiced in his death as Aegon V was very much for the small folk which caused tensions

I haven't gone back to see if this is true, but it definitely points to Bloodraven stirring up some shite.

I would guess that the fan theories here will be more interesting than the actual source material, either in the existing writing, writing to come or in the future of the TV show

The GoT TV adaptation has already dropped the ball on the bloodraven storyline, and it does not appear that the book series will advance any further. Fun to speculate though

It's early on but I get a different vibe from this showrunner than I did for Dumb and Dumber.

Granted Dumb and Dumber went 5 seasons before revealing they were Dumb and Dumber so this guy has three seasons worth of material that might make him look good and it go off the rails in season four. But, he seems like he really wants to stick to the source and just seems like a nerd for this story. I can see him writing some pretty good stuff to tie in.
