Rumor: Civil War Brewing Inside Lucasfilm For Control Over Star Wars

quote:

WDW Pro begins, “The ongoing battle over Lucasfilm’s direction continues, with Kathleen Kennedy and Jon Favreau factions fighting over the studio. It’s fairly well known at this point that the beef between Kennedy and Iger is real, given that Iger essentially ignored her in his memoirs.”

They continue, “It’s also hard to lose sight of how many projects Kennedy has seen fail at Lucasfilm (Star Wars Resistance, Star Wars Forces of Destiny, Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, Solo, and the Sequel Trilogy falling in revenues with each release), while Favreau seemingly struck it out of the park with The Mandalorian — a series for Disney+ that even Iger was giving creative suggestions for and taking notes on each episode.”

Now for all you misogynists who hate Grrrlll Power films and shows, I present you:

quote:

WDW Pro then details that Lucasfilm is taking a page out of the Ghostbusters 2016 and Charlie’s Angels playbook and that anyone who criticizes their direction with the show will be deemed a misogynist.

They explain, “But be ready, because it looks almost certain that a new narrative is being pushed by Kennedy loyalists in Lucasfilm… and that narrative is that Headland was ONLY a personal assistant for one year, and that being against her or her series is misogynistic, mean, and unfair.”

WDW Pro notes Disney at large doesn’t want this conflict, “Again, this is a conflict that Disney doesn’t want; they don’t want conflict over a hire that lavishly praised Weinstein, deleted hundreds of tweets at the same time as a leak about her project, and may know dirt on Iger and Eisner.”

It's quite simple really. Favreau just needs to let Spielberg dry dock into his worm tunnel, and his career will rocket to the stars

Jon Favreau made Disney 3.5B dollars out of 1 marquee property and a couple of also-rans, not even counting a few million D+ subscribers.

He should have carte blanche to do whatever he wants with any property in the portfolio.

Based on the source coming from the "WDW-Magic Forums," we already lost the education war, so this doesn't really matter.

It should not even be close. If Favreau wants the job to head Lucasfilm he should fricking have it.

Kennedy has failed again and again and again and in my opinion has been pretty much an abject disaster. She needs to go.

Favreau does good work and his films make money. The guy would do wonders for the Star Wars universe as a whole.

Kennedy - responsible for a dogshit sequel trilogy of one of the largest pop culture series in existence.

Favreau - responsible for the MCU (AKA a metric frick load of $$$)

How is this even a debate with Disney executives?

Neither one of them.

Dave Filoni for the win.

Is this a serious question?

I'll take the one that doesn't suck.

How could anyone side with Kennedy at this point?

Yeah, after Kevin Fiege, Favreau is the person most responsible for the success of the MCU. I trust Favreau with the material. Give it to him, and immediately remake Episode VIII. Rogue One and Solo can continue to be canon.

Dave Filoni seems to be in the Favreau camp. The last season of The Clone Wars has been a hit. He was on an episode in the latest of his Netflix cooking show, the Chef Show. Favreau is also in with Feige. We know how big his role has gotten with Disney. My money is on Team Favreau.

Tbh, I think Episode 8 has a lot of pieces of a great movie in there. I honestly believe that a whole lot of trimming and about 20 minutes of additional footage could put it ahead of Rogue One and on par with Return of the Jedi. So close, yet so f$&king far.
