Is this a serious question?

Apparently it is within the warring factions of Disney and Lucasfilm. The one who smoked Spielberg's hand crank seems to keep on winning, while the one who made MCU the biggest blockbuster franchise in movie history has to fight a losing fight.

Does it even matter anymore? They had to put out a good to great sequel trilogy for Star Wars to really continue to be THE marquee property, and they completely botched it. Star Wars will never again be what it once was, as much as it pain this huge fan to say it.

Faverau is actually a good story teller.

He crushed Ironman 1 + Chef + Elf

Created the Mandalorian + a popular cooking show

His disappointment with Disney MCU direction and meddling was a plotline in Chef in regards to what happened with Ironman 2

Disney then gave him the reins to 2 live action remakes of their classic animated division and both did well

What the frick has Kennedy ever done in creative? Force is female? Mary Poppins? Luke beta B? Love v Hate?

I would argue that the cultural phenomenon around The Mandolorian/The Child shows that it is still very relevant. They can have immense success if the right people are in charge.

Kennedy has failed again and again and again and in my opinion has been pretty much an abject disaster. She needs to go.

Its that gut feeling after Last Jedi still remaining. It does seem to still have a following though. It can be rescued to an extent

Agree to disagree. The Child/Baby Yoda went viral because of his cuteness, not because the show was a cultural moment. I'd argue the vast majority of the females posting chicky nuggy baby yoda memes didn't watch one episode.

Star Wars relies on a rabid fanbase, and that fanbase was majorly alienated by the treatment of the OT characters in the ST. There is no repairing that. Marvel has taken over as the dominant cultural franchise.

Agree.

E.T. and original Yoda were ugly motherfrickers, but got over.

Outside of Cowboys & Aliens, when was the last time Favreau directed something that turned out poorly? Kennedy should hand the story arc over to him using her Executive Producer title and take all the credit. With all of the source material out there, there's no reason why we shouldn't get another dozen Star Wars films that are all phenomenal.

WDW Pro notes Disney at large doesn’t want this conflict, “Again, this is a conflict that Disney doesn’t want; they don’t want conflict over a hire that lavishly praised Weinstein, deleted hundreds of tweets at the same time as a leak about her project, and may know dirt on Iger and Eisner.”

And Disney is absolutely correct here. KK being idiotic enough to consider this route means she has no business being in her position anymore. 2 major failed movies and she wants to follow in their exact footsteps.

I largely agree with this. The damage they did to the original stories that made star wars a brand name is almost irreparable. The only POSSIBLE solution is to wait a long time and wipe 7-9 from the history books and restart in a different way.

They couldnt have possibly had a worse outcome.

Technically speaking Star Wars should be the #1 property at Disney, but the fact that it loses out to franchises like the Jumanji is scary bad.

And if they think theyre drawing in more little girls or young viewers theyre sorely mistaken. Sure they may be drawing in more female viewers, but there are just too many other great female characters in media thats accessible to that demographic in other properties.

I think the Japanese entertainment industry has done a great job at incorporating females into worlds with magical forces and such and they dont have to strip down all masculinity to get it done like feminazi Kennedy types enjoy doing. (Remember Ghostbuster girls shot the final boss in the dick?)

Feminism is not funny, creative, or interesting. Its just loud, angry, belligerent, and annoying.

Completely disagree. Baby Yoda memes in and of themselves have zero context and the likelihood of being cute because of chicky nuggies is likely less than 50% on their own. The women you speak of likely watched the show as the bf/husband/etc was likely watching the show and they had a passing interest in it after seeing baby Yoda. Keeping in mind the articles written on why baby Yoda was such a phenomenon,i.e. he resonated with many because of his child-like qualities.

Strong female characters and protagonists are all over anime, even if they are often sexualized.
Bulma in DBZ is an inventor and scientist who builds a time-machine and the dragon radar
Kagomae in Inuyasha is the narrator and routinely the brains and heart of the group, while Songo has agency and a fully fleshed out character and personality as well.
Relena in Gundam Wing is a principal character who isn’t just a love interest for Hero, but also is the show’s conscience and moral compass as a politician pushing to end the war.

All of these characters are relatable, human, emotional, passionate, skilled, and flawed with fully fleshed out backstories, plots centered around them, and full agency. Feminists in Hollywood don’t understand how to do this because they see their characters as having to be all things to all people “for the movement”. If their character isn’t showing little girls that women can be perfect at everything, then they think it’s a failure. They think showing any weakness or flaw in a female character is somehow stating that all women are weak and inferior or that the weakness of one character is something to stereotype in all women. Or, they need to create a character that is exactly like a man, but not a man, because otherwise she’d be somehow less than. Thus, they create characters that are boring, unrealistic, and unrelatable, and it makes for bad movies and worse story-telling. Then, Hollywood being Hollywood, interprets that to mean that audiences aren’t ready for female heroes!!!

It's dumb fun, if you can't enjoy a dumb fun movie, you are too serious of a person for me. I enjoyed it as well.
