re: LOST "The Candidate" S6 E14 (Jack/Locke-centric)

What if Kate is kind of Jacob's "wild card". Maybe touching her means MIB can't kill her or that she is in fact a candidate?
Maybe Jacob wants everyone, mostly MIB, to think she is not a candidate, so that when MIB either tries to kill her or round up the candidates he will be caught off guard by the fact that either:
A) He can't kill her
or
B) He does in fact need her
IDK

Kate's name was crossed out in the cave but not on the wheel. However, MIB did tell Claire she didn't need her.

He needed her to get Jack off the island.

He does need her.

do you actually watch the show, or just have it playing off in the background while you battle the daily crossword puzzle?
I do multitask, but not very well I'm afraid.

One other problem with that map is when Sayid starts down the beach after he tortured Sawyer in Season 1, he walks down the beach until he comes to the rope that connects to the Looking Glass and follows it up into the woods. He would have surely seen the lighthouse on his way.

sometimes you ask questions that just don't make sense. Which would be easy to disregard if all of your statements & questions were 'tard.
But usually, you seem to run with things and topics fairly well...then you pull a dumbass out of your pocket, makes me wonder if you were actually watching

I watch it plenty, brother. You can trust me, just like you can trust fLocke.

problem with that map
I also assumed that The Staff was much much closer to the survivors' camp. So I looked it up on Lostpedia, and it said it was about a day and a half from the camp on the western side of the island. Then I looked up The Flame, and Lostpedia said it was NE of New Otherton - about a day and a half away from the survivors' camp
so, someone's wrong

But at least he was able to go out in traditional arab fashion, with a bomb strapped to his chest.

Very true.

About the day and night thing. When the losties are cryimg on the beach its night, then cut to MIB and Clair when he says he is going to finish what he started and its the middle of the day.
Nope....just rewatched, and when they cut to MIB and Claire back on Hydra it's definitely night.

Yeah, my theory is only candidates can see the Lighthouse when other candidates are around, and since Sayid was alone he should have been able to see it. But you're right in saying there is no way the Lighthouse could be there.

The Staff is about half a days walk from the camp, so I'd it is roughly in that area.

I have been reading a few other boards and reviews and I gotta say am I the only one more pissed about Jeff Fahey's character's death than Jin, Sun or Sayid?
Dude got hit by a door and killed him. Felt like I was watching a no name character from The Abyss get killed.

If Lapidus doesn't have a crazy "just in time to save the day" re-appearance, I'll eat my shoe.
Unlike Sayid going out in true Arab fashion and the shot of the Kwon's hands drifting apart in the sub, there is no on screen confirmation that Frank is dead.
And I'm sure that someone has already covered this, but I was surprised that Sun didn't insist that Jin leave the sub so he could get back to the mainland and raise their daughter. Granted, he probably wouldn't have listened, but I thought they should have addressed that whole "lil' Kwon growing up without parents" thing before they drowned.

Man, what a good episode.
I hope Job the Lawnmower Man isn't dead.
And Jacob isn't dead. It's God vs. Satan.

I think he just wanted them to think water was his weakness. I think its irrelevant. He needs the candidates to die and then he can go but he can't directly kill them. That was pretty clear from The Candidate.

Locke had to have a lot to happen for his plan to work. Jack had to get on the sub somehow and take the switched backpack. Kate had to get shot to get Jack to open the backpack, etc. That is a lot for Locke to risk.
Others have theorized that this whole sequence has happened before (maybe 108 times). Do you think Locke knows what will (mostly) happen if he does certain things - because he has tried them before? Almost like "GroundHog Day?"

This is akin to discussing where Darth Vader's quarters are on the death star relative to the mens' room. Nerdtastic.
