Tennis Thread

Already being discussed in tennis thread. Absolute clown world.

Darren Cahill will be squirming when this is discussed on ESPN.

Yep very interesting to see another Cahill coached player come under scrutiny for doping allegations....

Sinner is going to get crushed by the media in New York.

Seriously doubt this. He is the ATP and tennis media's golden boy. He'll get some cupcake questions but the media will help the ATP sweep it under the rug. The outrage/crushing will come from other players (and rightfully so).

Tennis's Jannik Sinner tested positive for steroids, avoids ban

Tennis gonna tennis.

By the way if this was Novak:

1. Both provisional suspensions would have been upheld and the investigation would have been made public from the start.

2. Clown tennis media would have demanded stripping of ranking points, titles, etc. and called into question all past achievements.

But nothing to see here folks.
Could tell that Fritz was super tight from 2nd set tiebreaker through the entire 3rd set. Loosened up some in 4th set and won, then got tight again in the 5th set.

Definitely a choke / melt on Fritz's part and very disappointing considering 2022 QF versus Rafa when he was up 2 sets to 1 and then similarly got tight and couldn't put Rafa away.
25% of 1st serve points won by Fritz in 3rd Set :ahh:
This is an epic choke job / melt by Fritz. Reminiscent of 2022 Wimbledon QF versus injured Nadal.
Cannot believe they gave Rafa Zverev in the 1st Round in what is very likely his last French Open.

Zverev -2.5 sets (+145) on DK

Kansas City Chiefs: 11.5

Put 1.45u on Chiefs over 10.5 (-145) when DK first released Chiefs and Niners win totals. Still think Chiefs go over 11.5 but feel much more comfortable paying the juice for 10.5. Just can't see KC losing 7 regular season games.

Chicago Bears: 8.5

Just took some under 8.5 (+115). Fading the Caleb Williams hype train.
Even more proof, not that any was needed, of what a soft sport tennis is amongst media/fans given the reaction against Novak's "celebration".

This was both funny and shows how much Shelton was annoying Djokovic. Enjoy the show and stop crying. This is professional sports.

It’s stuck in Italy until 2025. I wonder where they would play it in the U.S.

It was actually in Houston in 2003 and 2004 before they moved it to Shanghai. Was played at Westside Tennis Club where the US Men's Clay Court Championships used to be played before they moved the tourney to River Oaks. I went in '03. Saw Fed win his 1st year end championship beating Agassi easily in the Final. I was a huge Agassi fan but remember being blown away by Fed's level the entire tourney.

I think Houston was actually the last time they played this tourney outdoors. I'd imagine if/when it returns to the US it'll be in an NBA arena in a major city.

As a Broncos fan, I didn’t ever think this team would be this bad with Russ. They’re absolute dog shite outside of the defense. It’s pathetic.

As a Chiefs fan I gotta say I'm loving every second of it and can't wait to see how it all plays out over the next 4-5 seasons!  :doublebird: :pimp:

re: Novak and nadal

The counterargument to this that people throw out is that Nadal has won the US Open once more than Djokovic, and only once less than Federer... and that's the fastest surface there is for a hardcourt slam.

US Open is actually one of the slowest hardcourt surfaces on tour (along with Indian Wells and Miami). Aussie Open is fastest hardcourt slam and one of the fastest hardcourt surfaces on tour (along with Cinci).

Not too crazy that Rafa has had success at US Open but he's also capitalized well on his opportunities there (and has won it twice (2017 and 2019) with some incredibly easy/lucky draws). Novak only has 3 US Open titles but has made the final 9 times. Just a weird slam for him especially when you consider he's also made Aussie Open final 9 times but has won it every time.

Anyone have inside sources on when it will launch? It's crazy that it has taken this long.

Heard from a VERY reliable source today that mobile sports betting is going live in LA this Friday, January 28th at 8:00 a.m. Sucks it took this long but at least we'll have it for the conference championships and Super Bowl.

They are trying to push their ESPN + streaming services which has coverage of every match on every court

LMAO....this really is the perfect Aussie Open to boycott.

Peak djokovic beats peak anyone any surface except peak nadal on clay.

That was pretty poor from Meddy tonight, but I give credit to Thiem for playing some pretty insane defense throughout. You could tell Meddy was frustrated and really didn't know what to do. Kinda reminded me a bit of the Rafa v. Novak 2013 US Open Final where Rafa kept getting that extra ball back and frustrated TF outta Nole.

I expect Thiem to beat Zverev pretty easily but we'll see.

Shapo v Fritz mid to late afternoon on Ashe tomorrow. How do you degenerates see that playing out?

Shapo in 4

Been like a year since I have seen Medvedev play and had forgotten what a freak of length and flat shot he is.

Meddy is looking really good. Hard for me to see any final other than Novak v. Meddy at this point. Would be a hell of a match similar to Novak v. Thiem at this year's Aussie Open final and Rafa v. Meddy at last year's US Open final.
