From the day Obama was elected in 2008 to ekectrion day 2016 the DJIA went up about 8000 points or a little over 8% per year which was consistent (no higher) with historical averages...

I am sure this has been discussed but when was the last time we were this big of an underdog? Sometime late in 1999? At Bama 1993?...

re: Harvey ***Catastrophic Flooding Event*** - lsumatt
Has anyone tried to leave Houston towards Austin on 290? My sister is planning on leaving from 610/290 and head to Austin. I want to make sure roads are open and safe (or as safe as they could expected to be)....

re: Meanwhile the stock market is going up monkey nuts - lsumatt
I'm pretty sure the Dow went up more under Obama than it ever has under any president.
The DJIA went up ~8% from the day Obama was elected to the day Trump was elected. That is pretty consistent with historical averages....

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
Wife and I just got married and after stocking up on credit cards during the wedding/honeymoon process (thanks to you all), we are trying to reorganize. Most of these (especially the high fee cards) I got in the last year. Cards with (x2) are owned by both wife and I. 1. Chase Sapphire Reserve ...

I have a 2015 Q50 and it is awesome. Automatic braking and lane control. Even if every car had these features I think accidents would go way down....

re: United to now offer up to $10K for passengers who give up their seat on overbooked flights - lsumatt
wow - that's overkill - I would volunteer every time & people will likely be fighting for it when it happens...
I mean that isn't going to be their initial offer. You, I, and everyone else will volunteer long before it gets to $10,000. There shouldn't be a limit at all. ...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
I just met my minimum spending on the AmEx business card - 2 days after my billing statement closed. Do I have to wait a month to get the sign up bonus? Longer? Is there anything I can do to get the points sooner (like pay in advance)? I really need the points so I can book a hotel room. ...

re: Go pick me out a winner Bobby - lsumatt
I threw the book at the wall when I finished the end. It was really weird reading the book. There were paragraphs and even pages in the book where the movie took it word for word but had a completely different connotation. Watched the movie last night with fiancée (her first time). Probably m...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
Is the Amex Business Platinum subject to 5/24? I thought business cards were excluded from 5/24? I do have a credit limit problem. Chase keeps giving me like 30K limits on my cards and I was initially rejected on the Ritz until I called and had them move credit around. Do you think I need to redu...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
I have had the same credit card for 15 years but I get married in May so I have jumped in the game. I got the CSP and CSR in the last year which will pay for honeymoon flights to Hawaii. Fiancee and I both got Ritz Carlton cards (thanks to AmeriKop) to get 6 free nights at the Ritz in Maui. I pl...

re: When discussing climate change why focus on the negative? - lsumatt
That is my biggest problem ...that a warmer planet is a worse planet. What is the workd's perfect temperature and what year did it occur? The scientist Arrhenius was the first to suggest the possibility of man-made global warming. And he was thrilled about it....
