are we sure the ending of days of future past is 2023 or whenever? i couldnt find anywhere that confirms that date as an absolute fact. it really could be anywhere between like 1970 and 2023

Just got back. Sort of generic villain again, but I still liked it a lot. One of the better comic book movies they've made. The pacing was outstanding.

My only real nitpick with the movie is that perfectly put together Cell Phone video that looked and sounded better than most modern movies and was flawlessly edited.

I completely missed how many people Professor X killed. For some reason I heard 40 but everyone else is saying 600. That makes it much more likely he wiped out all of the X-Men.

Just watched it and I really enjoyed it. It's easily one of the best comic book movies ever made. Some minor criticisms - I didn't care for X24, and it does drag a bit in the middle. But that's about it, and it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the film.

I also really hope Patrick Stewart gets recognized for this performance. He was simply brilliant.

Its not 600.

The film clearly states the Incident affected 600.

I don't remember how many they said it killed though, maybe a dozen.

I don't see how it would kill ALL of the X-Men however.

But in general, I loved the film. It had its flaws, but I don't see how they could have done much better.

My only problems were:

1) as already mentioned, its far too close to the end of DOFP. For instance, Pierce's approach to Caliban referring to a long past hunting mutants. For all of the things they say occur in the film when they occurred, the Westchester Incident had to have happened the day after Logan "returned" to his time. And even then its tight as hell. Why not push it back another 5-10 years?

2) I really could have done without bringing up GMO food supply boogyman. It felt like they were approaching perilously close to what I hate in my movies: using it as a hamfisted platform for real world political agenda.

This movie I think finally replaced my #1 comic movie, The Dark Knight.

This movie was fantastic.

The whole movie was about Logan having to smuggle a Mexican across the border

Ah, but the Canadian border.

The US border was a third rail that was left the frick alone.

People who say things like this are odd. I just don't get it.

After reading this thread, I'm convinced most never read comics.

You can have a stand alone comic that picks and chooses what parts of continuity it is part of.
For instance, "the statue of liberty was a long time ago", "when I found you, you were a cage fighter". So the first movie exists.
No real mention of the others.
It doesn't matter. In movies we look for what happened last. In comics you look at the story given to you.

Not saying this is a pure stand alone. Just saying it's a lot better if you don't try and force it into a continuity box and just realize it was made in the vein of a stand alone graphic novel.

Agreed. The movie itself was great. A perfect send off to Hugh Jackman. He really did the character justice.

Only issue I had was the blatant 'we aren't racist' casting choices. Also pretty clear the reboot is going to be an X-men of every race with the one white person being an alligator looking idiot.

Lol holy shite. You always hear about people like this but seeing one in the wild is always such an experience.

Saw it today. Awesome movie.

I'm glad they sent Hugh out like this.

Saw it last night, thought it was fan-damn-tastic!

The R rating was spot on. Fighting like that with claws would naturally cause all sorts of gruesome damage.

The young girl that played X-23 was excellent! She had such a fierce look that she really brought the character to life.

On a side note... did anyone else think she had a striking resemblance to Famke Janssen (the original Jean Grey actress)?

The only critique I have:

-What the hell happened to the X-Men? I want something a little more specific than having to speculate from the tidbits dropped that Charles had a massive seizure in Westchester and it killed all of them but he and Logan. Give me some more backstory on how Charles and Logan got from Westchester to Shitville and when/where did Caliban come along?

When it showed the chubby black kid standing by the grave clutching his Wolverine toy, that was just too much. Heartbreaking.

Well, been playing Zelda all weekend, and just got out of seeing it for the first time.

Honestly, what a great Swan Song for Wolverine (and really) Professor X. This was great. The only remote contender in the franchise that can stand next to it is Days of Future Past. Great performances across the board as well as a great story.

I have to say that I don't think the Canadian border would stop these guys though.

All the speculation seems to be that Alpha Flight would protect them in Canada.
