Just got out. 3/5. Fun, fan-servicey send-off for Jackman and Stewart with some great scenes. Way too long with lots of wasted time though. Almost docked an additional star solely because of Pierce's cringeworthy death, holy god that was awful

Nope, X2 still my favorite. Watched some of it the other day and it's amazing how well-paced it was.

I think this one was a tad overrated because it's going against shite like Amazing Spider-Man 2, avengers 3, and Batman Superman. Those make Logan look like citizen kane

I see your point. Some parts dragged through the middle of Logan for me

How is it so far?

It's simply amazing. I don't think multiple reviewers were overplaying it by saying it was possibly the greatest game ever made.

Wat?

Exactly how big of a part did you watch to comment upon the overall pacing?

I didn't mind it. It allowed the movie to breath. Can't think of a scene where I was thinking "why the hell did they put this in?"

The stuff at the farm was kind of slow but that was to show Logan the importance of family and what it was like to have a normal life. There was a point to it all, it just dragged a bit.

My point that you made appoint to say that you saw it today and we're taken aback by the well pacing.

Now you are saying that you saw it before. That implies that you are interjecting pre made conclusions into your observations.

Which begs the question of how much you do that.

Now you are meationing a string of scenes you liked in a thread of conversation about pacing. Hmm.

uhhh

let me break it down for you.

1. I've seen X2 in the past.
2. I haven't seen it a while.
3. I watched some scenes when it was on this weekend
4. I forgot how well-paced it was (see #2)

eta: I may have worded the pacing comment poorly, but i think it was pretty clear from the "X2 is still my favorite" that i had seen it before

eta2: jeff asked "Better than X2?" because he and I have argued over the quality of X2 in the past

On replay, the farm scenes are actually essential.

Both for plot and to promoting the development of Logan's character

You DO realize that the last words of "So that's what it feels like" was a direct reference to his dismissal of it to Charles in that sequence, right?

The seeming pointlessness you refer to is kinda the point. That true family is where life's meaning comes from. It doesn't matter if it is pointless banter with those that matter, or dying in the arms of those you love.

That "feeling" is the value and joy of life. Without it, you'll never have even a measure of peace, and be buried by the pain of the burdens of your past.

i was fine with most of the farm stuff, but the whole encounter at the water pump was silly and shoehorned in there just to give the wolverine clone a cool slaughterfest

Uhhhh, you still missing my point.

It's literally impossible for you to be reminded by how well a movie is paced by watching a few scenes.

Ergo, you are bringing up a past conclusion, and telling yourself you saw it today.

Ergo, inherent logical fallacy.

Ergo, questionable thought process/perspective on movies in question.

Ergo, stop talking about X2 in an Logan thread.

Come on man, I like it too, but it's not amazing. Highlight of the film really is the defense of the school. Everything else is not any better than the rest of the original trilogy, even the third. Especially on the issue of "pacing."

Or to illustrate the razor fine control they have on him

Or to keep fanboys from saying why didn't he get away with all the time Logan gave him dealing with Xavier and staying with him till he died.

No slaughter, girl gets taken away.

The eye candy is just icing on the cake.

Don't believe me?

Consider the multiple scenes where you see the carnage happening in the background of the two plot lines unfolding at the time.

If the whole point was the "pointless battle," why cut away from it?

what? that's absurd. if you haven't seen a movie in a while, of course you can be reminded of some of its qualities by watching 30-40 minutes of it.

spare me dude

I never said it was amazing, I said it was my favorite. i brought it up in here because I was asked how I liked it in relation to Logan. you're the one trying to incite this silly game and trying to tell me what I can and can't draw from watching a segment of a movie. run along

Yea the X2 is basically running joke now

Vol is getting way too into this

Back to the water pump. I don't like how they used that scene as a way to separate Charles and Logan so x24 could come in and kill prof X. Felt forced

I don't see where we're disagreeing here. I personally agree with everything you said.
