Argonaut probably complained. He’s touchy about this subject.

I like how this placed melted over Ariel now being black. But none of you think twice about Jesus being a pasty white man with blonde hair in the Middle East 2000 years ago.

There's nothing arbitrary about it.

once you realize that Argonaut and DisplacedCuckeye are the same person, you'll realize that going back and forth with him is futile.

I like how every opinion that differs from yours is a “melt.”

I do not see what the big deal is - if she can play the part, can sing - who the frick cares

This is the mindset of 99.9% of the country

This is nothing but phony "backlash" invented by people who are ideologically invested in the idea that America is a racist country where even the mermaids aren't allowed to be black.

Go read the articles about this supposed "outrage." They'll show like 5 tweets from random people with 10 followers. It's all bullshite.

more from China LINK

quote:

“Is this mermaid from the Somali Sea?” another Weibo user said. “Don’t ruin my childhood, you big-head fish!”

quote:

“America is overdoing its political correctness,” a Weibo user commented under a screenshot of Bailey’s tweet, in which she celebrated the casting with a cartoon image of a brown-skinned mermaid.

quote:

The story of The Little Mermaid by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen is one of the best known and loved Western fairy tales in China. The iconic Disney cartoon character Ariel – with her porcelain skin, blue eyes and fiery hair – is widely recognized.

As in many parts of the world, Chinese audiences have become used to watching American blockbusters that feature mostly white leads. In Chinese films, attractive women are usually pale and thin.

Interesting choice. Not surprising in the least though. It's Disney you know. The king of PC TV.

I don't remember anyone being pissed when they cast a human instead of a Fox to play Robin Hood, or when a Polynesian was cast to play Aquaman.

Is she my choice? No.
But I find her attractive and to be a good singer.

Also, can Amber Heard even sing. Halle has a great singing voice which is likely what got her the role.

I think this is beng lost in all of this

Mark Henry singing I'll Make A Man Out Of You from Mulan would be great.
