She's playing a fricking mermaid. Who gives a shite as long as she can sing?
Funny how the "who cares, the race of the actor doesn't matter" seems to only come out when it's a white character being portrayed by a non-white.

Unlike the two examples you gave is literately nothing about a mermaid that requires it be a white person. Again, it's a half person half fish that damn near every culture centered near water had in their myths and legends.

Again, there is nothing about a mermaid that requires it be white. It's a fictional fantasy creature.

What requires Jasmine to be middle eastern? How about Mulan? After all, they're all just fictional stories right? So why should it matter what race they are? I'm just using your line of thinking here.
Also forgetting Ariel becomes a Danish princess.

Has zero to do with what PEPE posted but ok

You couldn't be more intellectually dishonest if you tried.
Nobody has ever once said "mermaids can't be black", ever.
We aren't talking about a generic Mermaid. If they wanted to make a NEW mermaid movie, and introduce a new black mermaid character, fine.
But we are talking about a PARTICULAR fictional mermaid character, the one originally created by a Danish author.
When dealing with the attributes of a particular established character, some can't be changed. If you change the gender or race, they aren't the same character anymore.

But Ariel’s biggest characteristic is her red hair.
You know they have these things called wigs, right?

Maybe it’s just me but I actually think this girl looks like Ariel. Just throw some red hair on her.

No way there’s an actress that looks 16-18 and actually looks like Ariel right
I mean, i agree with that point. I never said I agreed with the casting decision here.

Why change it?

Sebastian is going to be played by an elephant.
Flounder will be a wildebeest
The movie won’t be in the sea, but set in modern day Detroit.
All makes sense

I mean its almost comically predictable at this point.. This is why I have yet to support the live action remakes Disney is regurgitating.

Which other major characters have they changed? I’ve only seen the jungle book remake
