I just figured they would have done that earlier or are you saying the shuttle guys were on time? Seems they would be cutting it close already at that point even prior to them having to get chaotically packed and into the shuttle.
Oh, I see what you're saying. I just assumed the shuttle guys were on time, and the reason why the family wound up cutting it so close was that they had to get ready (which they would have been doing sooner had they not overslept).

Another sign that Buzz is an a-hole…lives in Chicago and has a poster of Zeke Thomas in his room

Zeke is a Chicago high school bball legend.

Something tells me that wouldn’t be the reason a white kid from the North Shore burbs would have that in his room.

It's been so long since I've gone through this thread and I can't remember if it's been mentioned (or maybe I just missed it or forgot?) but I'm watching HA1 right now and I'm not sure if it ever occurred to me how ridiculous it is that when the McCallister's are calling everyone they know to check on Kevin not a single one of them calls the one dude they should know will be home on Christmas in Old Man Marley.
This nice arse hell old man goes up and down their block every fricking night salting the sidewalks year by year all winter long so none of them bust arse on the ice an THEY DON'T HAVE HIS frickING NUMBER? What the shite kind of a-hole neighbors are these people? He lives right across the fricking street! He's clearly been living in that house and salting the sidewalks for years b/c Buzz knows who he is well enough to have concocted his dickhead murder story. Even if they weren't friends they surely would have talked to him on multiple occasions and with this being the late 80s it was still time when it was common to exchange numbers w/your neighbor. Even IF they didn't have it they damn well should know his first name and be able to call information to get his number. WTF?
Either they are the biggest most oblivious assholes on the planet (and there is a lot of evidence that points that way) or Old Man Marley really did do something super fricked up and is considered persona non grata on their street to the point they'd rather risk Kevin continue to be alone than involve him. I lean towards the former b/c if Marley was that bad his single Christmas Eve phone call to his son wouldn't have been enough to get them to show up to his house on Christmas morning.

My thought was that they called him but he wasn't home and he didn't have an answering machine.

I'm sure it's been said, but this all could have been avoided if that fat frick cop had caught Kevin when he "shoplifted."

Yeah but he definitely has a few lines to his mom that would’ve earned me a pop on the head when I was young

All I really want for Christmas is a really dark, gritty Wet Bandits origin story.

The kind that would forget their 8 yr old kid at home when they were leaving the country.
Honestly, the McAllisters are horrible people. It’s not too far fetched that their neighbors would be the same.

I’m not rereading to see if someone said it already, but when the McAllisters are in Paris, Buzz says they live on the most boring street in America. Why the hell would he say that if he thinks their neighbor Marley is a serial killer?

Buzz is likely the source of all the Marley rumors.

What an odd way to check into a hotel.

Also they couldn't get through to any neighbors at first because the phone lines were down.

They probably would not have gotten in touch w/ the parents anyway and he is 8 years old. He stole a $5 toothbrush. Not like he would be in a holding cell.
If he would have called the cops or answered the door when the cop was knocking it would be over.

Not sure if it's been said already but after the bricks to the face scene, Marv leaves the bag of money on the street.
