re: Let's Overanalyze "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2"

I just like how in the first movie, the dad just doesn't give much of a shite. Even allowing his wife to plane hop and hitchhike back home while he relaxes in Paris.

Watching it the other night renewed my hatred for the nosey check out girl and the old hag that hassled Kevin just for trying to determine if the toothbrush was approved by the American Dental Association.

I watched Home Alone 2 last night and can't believe the audacity of the McCallisters blaming Tim Curry for their child being lost. All he found was a stolen credit card and had every right to be incredibly suspicious over a kid being all by himself.

Another thing I noticed was once the McAllister family gets to NYC, the mom goes to the hotel and has the fricking nerve to tell the lady at the front desk "Because of you, my son is lost and alone in NYC." And then, at the end of the movie, everybody wakes up and sees all the presents and is happy and all that. And not only does he leave his parents intentionally, none of the adults (or 37 kids) notices that he is gone either. So you all are so worried that Kevin is alone in NYC, and you are all so relieved that he is alive and okay, yet the next fricking morning, you pay so little attention that you let him run off alone again? And then not even notice when he's gone...again? Get the frick out of here, McAllister family. You are all terrible people.

That was my rant about some of that...like you, I had seen it on TV, and when I saw that part about Kevin's mom bitching that lady out about her son being lost and I damn near lost my mind and started yelling and cursing at my TV.

If I remember correctly the brother who lived in Paris paid for the trip. I think the mom says it to Pesci when he is pretending to be a cop. Not that I'm defending the a-hole dad.

I'm pretty confident Uncle Frank was a serial molester. The real reason Fuller was always wetting the bed was when Frank walked in his room with the "magic finger" as he called it. Basically Fuller got a break whenever Kevin slept in the attic, and Uncle Frank was the first to go when Kevin inevitably snapped.

frank and kevin's dad are both loaded though frank is a cheap skate

their other brother is temporarily working in paris and pays (because it is a family full of ballers and psychopaths) to bring ALL of his family and their children, and his children who are at the mcallister house in the beginning to france for the holidays

frank lives in ohio so I gather that he is the least successful of the three brothers

it is pretty clear from their lifestyle, the way they dress and act that both of kevin's parents are in very high paying jobs. Their brother is living in a suite in paris overlooking the eiffel tower. either he is paying for it, or his company is putting him up there. Either way, it is pretty clear he and his family are wealthy

frank I assume may be wealthy but a cheapskate.
