You understand that the Colbert Report was 100% satire right? The entire thing was making fun of conservatives. It was well done satire and still funny, something that is sorely lacking today.

The same people think that Norman Lear was pandering to conservatives by presenting Archie Bunker as he did.

You say that now, but all my republican friends were team Colbert. I mean we were all dumbass college kids at the time and didn’t pay attention to politics much, if at all. I tuned in and laughed at both shows. The world wasn’t as divisive back then either so I guess the satire flew over my head at the time.

I remember distinctly in college the daily show was seen as more liberal and the Colbert report was more for the “conservative” demographic.

It was an attempt at satire. He wasn't an actual conservative. It wasn't very funny, but his shtick was supposed to be about a tight arse conservative guy.

I remember him going on the O'Reilly show and Bill was just trying to do a friendly interview with him, but Colbert was just being a condescending a hole and wouldn't step out of character. Bill ended up cutting him off and ending the interview. Colbert lost his shart about it when he was later interviewed by Stewart.

I mean, a lot of people didn't realize it was satire, which is generally the sign of good satire. Doesn't change the fact it was

When the president gets a late night show cancelled because they’re big meanies, yeah, I’d say that’s the end of them.

Watched Carson nearly every night from10th grade, thru seven years of college. I started watching Letterman in 1982, graduated college in 1983 and watched whenever I could for three or four more years. By the 90's I'd quit watching those shows I like Conan and watched him a good bit and liked Craig Ferguson a lot. Wish he'd been on longer.

He is a genius at it really

Meanie? What are you, some fig?

Kimmel is a crying soy boy who suffers from feminine itching. He’s an embarrassment.

SNL is still political, but not as angry left as they used to be. I think most of the crew they had in the late 80’s to mid 90’s were mainly close to the middle politically. I think they certainly still have some far left cast members, but maybe more in the center this season.

Colbert had a 0 page thread.

Did anyone ever actually like or watch Colbert. My nephew may be the only one I knew, years ago wanted to show me a clip of him on his old comedy network show.

It was unfunny and annoyingly political - which I suppose from all I hear continued and became more extremely partisan as time went on. It's the only content I ever watched of his and that was enough. I never heard anyone in my circle discussing his show are saying did you see that....things of that nature.

I don't mind political satire - but the one-sided agendized versions of it I have zero tolerance for.

He’s mean to Trump so he needs to be cancelled like Colbert! Also, we hate cancel culture, am I right?

Mean to Trump? He lied about who shot Charlie Kirk. On purpose. For political reasons.

Kimmel is a garbage human.
