You understand that the Colbert Report was 100% satire right? The entire thing was making fun of conservatives. It was well done satire and still funny, something that is sorely lacking today.

You say that now, but all my republican friends were team Colbert. I mean we were all dumbass college kids at the time and didn’t pay attention to politics much, if at all. I tuned in and laughed at both shows. The world wasn’t as divisive back then either so I guess the satire flew over my head at the time.

I remember distinctly in college the daily show was seen as more liberal and the Colbert report was more for the “conservative” demographic.
It was an attempt at satire. He wasn't an actual conservative. It wasn't very funny, but his shtick was supposed to be about a tight arse conservative guy.
I remember him going on the O'Reilly show and Bill was just trying to do a friendly interview with him, but Colbert was just being a condescending a hole and wouldn't step out of character. Bill ended up cutting him off and ending the interview. Colbert lost his shart about it when he was later interviewed by Stewart.

I mean, a lot of people didn't realize it was satire, which is generally the sign of good satire. Doesn't change the fact it was
