The final Letterman had a 13 page in game thread on this board.
Colbert had a 0 page thread.

That’s because people actually watched Letterman. Colbert was just for USAID recipients to pat each other on the back.

Colbert was never funny. He sucked way back on The Daily Show.

Letterman was funny at one time. Colbert never really was.
Plus he has a really punchable face. He really does. Even if you didn't know that he was insane, when you see him, you want to punch him.

File them in the trash next to the sitcom, and the weekly watercooler drama show.
Graham Norton (BBC) has a format that works. He releases weekly, and seasonal. Only about half the year. Not nightly. He also ditched the desk and the long opening monologue, and only got the biggest stars (mostly UK stars). He let's them shamelessly promote whatever they're working on, and squeezes a few interesting personal stories out of each. Has a unique musical act at the end, then wraps.

Complete mystery

quote:I love the Graham Norton show. To add to your point, one of the things I like about his format is that he brings out every guest at once. So, it's not just about chemistry/conversation between the host and the guest, but all of the guests with each other, and he's able to find ways to link most of them to one another.

If you don’t think the Colbert Report was funny, you literally have no sense of humor…

The Colbert Report was hysterical. Colbert on the Late Show was truly bafflingly awful.

He was paid to be a leftist cheerleader and policy promoter on his show.
He had no problem filling the task.

A rare VOR upvote-worthy post. Well done.

quote:Why would anyone start a Colbert thread on this board? I'd love to discuss SNL in here on a weekly basis, but the threads would instantly turn into, well, this thread.

SNL is pretty good this season. They finally got rid of the fat blonde that was anchoring the cast, a few years back. Heidi Gardner was a comedy black hole.Yang is amusing, but he can't do any characters.
Ashley Padilla and Chloe Fineman are really good. Kenan carries the show, as always.
Kam and Ben are a shot in the arm for the show.
The decision to make the show less political has also paid off.

I am right wing AF and grew up with my dad watching Rush, Hannity, O'Reilley, etc. and Colbert Report was hilarious.
I never went through a liberal phase in college, but could enjoy Colbert, Maher, and Stewart at that time.
Only Maher today is still moderately funny. He never became a bitter old man like the rest.

During his time at daily show and the Report as well as other stuff he was funny and legitimately showed his talents. I gave him an ernest go at the night show but he just cashed it all in at the point and become a one trick, unfunny mouthpiece.
