Because there are good critics out there who have something to say. Most people don’t listen to them but they’re out there.

We know.
Only explanation.
Only explanation.

You really don't think Disney, who is basically a modern day Standard Oil, affected those reviews at all? Really?

Part of it is definitely not wanting to piss off the evil Mouse Empire.
But another part of it is that whenever the public complains about SJW aspects of a movie, the critics in the press (which lean slightly to majorly left in general) feel the need to rally around it.
Whenever a movie is perceived as promoting left wing values, critics both consciously and subconsciously view it as a sacred cow. The louder the conversation about this topic, the stronger the effect is.

That's why you should never listen to professional critics. They aren't independent and have other agendas.

Nope it’s extremely dumb.
Across the 20 films in the MCU, the average tomatometer critic score is 84.05% and the average fan score is 83.25%.
Even the most recent 10 films starting in 2015 has an average critic score of 87.3% and a fan score 85.4%.
Your theory wouldn’t even make it into infowars.
You did all that for what? Now do the other side, the DC side...if you want to be genuine that is.

HA. HA. HA. My crackpot theory about Marvel getting positive reviews from critics over DC films despite the disparity in fan rating isn’t so dumb after all now is it?
Name one DC movie besides Wonder Woman that would crack the top 10 of Marvel movies. I’m not even looking at reviews for comic book movies. It’s clear when you watch them which are good and which suck. And the Marvel ones are consistently good, while DC consistently sucks

I used Batman Begins and TDK some, but the majority of the opinion also included Sony and Fox comic book properties...I just was being lazy and not really trying to start something when I typed that. I just found it funny, because people were calling me crazy for thinking Marvel gets favorable reviews.

I think most people, when they complain about DC movies, are referring to the current DCEU movies, all of which have sucked horribly besides WW. I know people have their beef with TDKR, but it's still a passable movie at worst, unlike the utter garbage that was BvS or Man of Steel or Suicide Squad.

I wouldn’t lump the Nolan franchise in with the rest of the DC universe. Marvel gets favorable reviews, sure. But they’ve earned their place with an incredible run of quality movies. DC deserves all the criticism it gets bc it’s not even close to as good as Marvel, but keeps releasing crap anyway

Ever thought that maybe talented guy who got handed the keys to a gigantic franchise had better ideas than you did?
Everyone did!
We all thought Rian was a homerun pick.
Then we saw the movie. . .

Counting the last 6 for tomato scores. Counting the same (minus Aquaman) for fan scores:
MoS
MvS
WW
Aquaman
SS
JL
Avg Tomatometer:
Critics: 51.8
Fans: 71.8
While fans liked it a bit better than the critics. . .it isn't hard to see why.
The lowest scores for the DCU were BvS and SS both with 27%. Both had 60% fan scores.
Having seen both, you honestly think either is better than 27%? Both were complete messes

Again, I used More than the DCEU. Venom was actually what spurred the post on. I thought it was a better movie, especially the 3rd act, than a chunk of MCU films. Here’s the original post.
It was just really funny to me to see this pop up because I rarely put the effort into a post like that on this board.
“ After leaving Venom last night, I kind of started wondering what the hell is going on with these movies and their ratings. Venom started a little clunky but was a damn good film and had an incredibly entertaining last 45 minutes or so better than any formulaic Marvel origin story outside of Doctor Strange or Guardians.
I know rottentomatoes does not factor in how much a critic liked or disliked the movie before people come running in. It is however the single biggest site when it comes to people checking to see what the critics are saying and has an impact. You can go ahead and throw rotten tomatoes into this question as well.
Im also going to say that the critics are going to protect their own self interests and more often than not Disney Marvel does an incredible job with their movies. From a page clicks perspective though, it behooves critics to stick their eggs in that basket and not kick the nest. Let’s look at some of the weaker MCU movies and compare them to some of the better Sony Marvel / DC movies going by Audience Score.
Perspective MCU
Iron Man 3 - 80% / Audience 78%
Ed Norton Hulk - 67% / Audience 71%
Thor: The Dark World - 66% / Audience 76%
Iron Man 2 - 73% / Audience 71%
Ant Man and The Wasp - 88% / Audience 79%
Perspective Sony Marvel / DC
Venom (Sony Marvel) - 30% / Audience 87%
Justice League (DC) - 41% / Audience 74%
Man of Steel (DC) - 55% / Audience 75%
Spider-Man - 90% / Audience 67%
Note: Tobey’s Spider Man is by far the oldest movie on these lists clocking in a full 6 years before any of the others. I didn’t want to be accused of being biased, but it really doesn’t belong here.
Let’s stack up the “cream of the crop” for funsies. I’m not going to include Black Panther or Wonder Woman for racial and genders reasons to be fair.
MCU (critics/Audience)
Iron Man - 93/91
Avengers - 92/91
Winter Soldier - 89/92
Guardians - 91/92
Infinity War - 84/91
Civil War - 91/89
Strange - 89/86
Ragnorok - 92/87
Homecoming - 92/88
Sony/DC
Batman Begins - 84/94
The Dark Knight - 94/94
TDKR - 87/90
Uhhhhh...
I’m not even going to get into the argument about critics shaping the audience narrative as well. I think there’s a case to be made, but I’d prefer to leave just the numbers. “
