It’s what the woke crowd wants. That doesn’t mean it’s woke. They want to force strong females on you. Why kill bill and alien works so well is because you never once watch it and think to yourself “oh this is what they’re doing.” They are great stories first and foremost. They just so happen to have female protagonists.
The woke crowd will never achieve this because the identities of the characters seem to be more important than a good story

i haven't watched it but this seems to be the microcosm of the Reva thing with Obi Wan. I'm sure the lady has received racist language at her and that's terrible. full stop. out those people and they are a pox on our society.
the overt language and opinion about her is that she's not a good actress and isn't the least bit menacing. all the defense of her is about race when i haven't seen any public complaints about that. They're so ready to jump to the race defense when it's not what's even being brought up.

I don't think they go into it this way. I think they make bad stories first and then want to have characters with those qualities in them, so instead of choosing who might be best for the role the pool of actors is made narrow.
Wanting people to be represented on screen is fine, but I don't think "traditional" Hollywood was oppressing anyone, it was just that the main character being a man or woman interested in the opposite sex was just the default a lot of people went to. Now its swung so hard in the other direction that we are getting stories where sexuality isn't really relevant. "Its just a normal part of who I am!" doesn't really jive with "Its something important that changes how you view a character in every context".

Aliens was a hit because of the alien. Any actor makes that flick work. Like Arnold in Predator and Terminator. Or Jaws, King Kong, ET or Jurassic Park. People watched for the beast, not the acting

Its woke because people took a fantasy as an example of a badass female. Umas fantasy portrayal is no more of an example of a female role model as was Rock Hudson being a sex symbol back in the day. Having him play a heartthrob was also woke before woke was a thing, because woke is just a narrative being pushed out against the norm

Because it’s not Woke. It’s message is mass murder and revenge. Every single minority dies in this movie. This is not a good example to make your point. I mean does literally anyone but the Bride, her daughter, and California Mountain Snake (who is completely blinded) survive the movie?
