Because Kathleen Kennedy is like the Hillary Clinton of Disney. Probably has a ton of dirt on everyone and is desperate to leverage that into making herself the queen of all things moviemaking.

They're definitely going to try to backfill those plot holes and it's going to be extremely shitty. They will hate that they even have to acknowledge a criticism from the fan base, but they'll do it and it'll be shitty and full of resentment.

I disagree. Yes, he screwed up, but a competent head could have righted the ship. Kathleen Kennedy is not that person and never will be.

Since ROTJ all the majority of Star Wars fans have wanted was to see Vader hunting down Jedi during the purge, and Luke rebuilding the order. Lucas screwed the fanbase on the former, and Disney on the latter.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them flash forward MANY years into the future for future trilogies after Rey trying to rebuild the Order movies to focus on some other characters
