She hasn't struggled with anything before, why will she suddenly struggle with this?

This is a good thread topic actually. I would actively root for the Sith to kill all the purple-haired rebels in these new movies

Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow your roll. You're being far too logical and exhibiting far too much common sense

There is a world and version of this that could be good.

We will not get that world or version

Have you ever tried to find an interior decorator for your new Jedi Academy in the middle of Jedha? Didn’t think so.

will make under $1B, which is pathetic for a Star Wars film.

To say nothing else about the character of Rey or the sequels in general, the one thing that bugs me about the ST is how it fails to move the story forward in any significant way. Shows such as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka do help to flesh out the post-RotJ time period and at least make things make a little more sense, but Filoni and his crew can only do so much when the entire premise is flawed.

It's basically The Empire Falls and then the entire galaxy is in a holding pattern for the next thirty years where essentially nothing gets accomplished and all the main heroes from the OT failed at virtually everything they tried to do. The ST ends with the galaxy literally in the exact same state that it was in post-RotJ.

One of the biggest problems with TLJ was it did basically zero to develop Rey outside the relationship with Kylo.

She was essentially sidelined for the entire 3rd act as tie fighter cleanup. So when Luke dies we’re left with someone who hasn’t really overcome anything to carry the emotional weight of the Jedi forward.

This maybe could have been okay if they were going to do some kind of outside the box grey Jedi team up with her and Kylo, but of course they were never going to do that and essentially had no plan whatsoever. Incredible.

She could have been a good character.

Just how dumb is this woman? Almost as dumb as the people who keep giving Disney their money hoping for something different.

Rian Johnson had a plan: subversion.

What that cost the trilogy was incredible. Hell, can expand that to the entire universe :lol

He nuked everything.

So basically what Luke was supposed to do until they hired Rian Johnson?

Correct. Rian Johnson has made good films but he really really fricked the Star Wars universe.

I'm not sure why so much hate is directed at Rian Johnson. I've never seen Brothers Bloom but literally everything else he's done has been great across genres and in both television and film. Looper was a great sci-fi thriller; Knives Out was a great little comedy mystery, and the sequel was solid as well; Poker Face is one of the better new shows that has come out recently, with a little unique spin on Columbo formula; and the episodes he directed on Breaking Bad were pretty universally acclaimed (audiences and critics), with Ozymandias considered not only one of the greatest episodes of the series, but in television history.

And when it comes TLJ, did he suddenly become an incompetent filmmaker, or was this a result of mismanagement by Lucas Films for not having an overarching plan for trilogy's plot with the writers/directors having to build their stories around, basically the exact opposite Marvel?

And while this is probably an unpopular opinion, I think if you look at TLJ as a standalone film in isolation, it works much better than as part of a trilogy or overall universe. To me that reflects the lack of a cohesive vision my Lucas films more than Johnson screwing it up.
