Thank God they went back to the original hat and not that stupid shite he ended up with in the first show.

I hope it's even 50% as good as the original. Still the best series ever.

Boyd crowder made that show. He was the star. Everyone else was just supporting cast.

So he's going to Detroit to take on the rest of the Dixie Mafia?

No doubt Boyd was an all time character. I still love me some Raylan though, and I have faith they will do this right.

No spoilers, I've just read the main villain is very good in the new show.

If you want to nitpick the Dixie Mafia was based in Lexington and just a criminal relationship to an actual crime family that was based in Detroit. But presumably yes.

I’m almost through the first season. Does it get better? I’m not saying it’s bad, but people on this board gush about it all the time. It’s not nearly as good as I expected.
The acting is laughable with some of the lesser characters and the stories aren’t that intriguing from episode to episode. The main plot line I enjoy but I guess I expected more.

Stick it out. I remember basically giving up after the first four episodes. I don’t remember what kept me going, but it ended up being one of my favorite all time shows, with maybe a top five series finale ever.
ETA…from a Justified thread back in December, I didn’t write this, just fully agreed with it.

I watched the pilot when it first aired and absolutely loved it. I went out of town for two weeks missing the next two episodes, and my friend told me they weren’t very good, especially compared to the pilot. He was right. They weren’t; however, I liked the characters enough, plus the pilot showed me just how good the show could be, so I stuck it out. Glad I did!
This is my all time favorite tv series. Here’s the deal. They couldn’t decide if they wanted to be episodic or long form story driven, so the first several episodes were highly inconsistent. About midway through S1 they found their groove, and it rocks all the way to the series finale. They found that proper balance of being episodic and long form, and they got it right throughout.
The payoff is worth the journey as the finale is up there with Cheers as the best ending to a series. It’s absolute perfection.
Do not give up on this series. Stick through the awkward start and you’ll be glad you did

^^ Yep
First season was more episodic until the finale, and then S2 through the end is pure gold

Come back and tell us what you thought of the season 1 finale, and then hold on for the 2nd season which may just be the best season of any tv series.

Lol. That was me and I was just sitting here trying to think of a more concise way to write the same thing again. Thanks for finding that.

Raylan transitioned after moving to Miami, then ran off to NOCAL.

It irks me that my wife doesn’t like this show. I love it and feel like almost every line of dialogue is comedy. I laugh my arse off.
Season 2 was intense. So intense and GREAT.
