Near the end of the movie, why did Chigurh kill the guy with the chicken crates in the bed of his truck? This guy wasn't involved in the mess in any way.

Chigurh is a force of nature, he feels compelled by some loose ethics but not above killing to accomplish his overall goals. It was a means to an end.

Its a McCarthy book that was adapted perfectly. NO SEQUELS. That is some lame arse studio bullcrap. Not meant for great books translated into great movies. How about: Lord Of The Flies II: The Voyage Home.

I was a little confused at the end, probably because I wasn't paying too much to the little speech. I've got no problem with the "bad" guy winning, but I wasn't expecting to end as abruptly as it did.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece. I certainly didn't think that it was a "slow-speed chase". I am on the edge of my seat the entire time each time I watch it. I love everything about this movie. The characters, the actors chosen to play them, the setting (1970's West Texas was perfect for this), the dialogue, the ending. Everything.

Agree, might be my favorite movie. Rivals Air Bud

Very little differs from book to movie.

Pretty much the chapter with the girl at the Motel Pool is all that's left out.

Right. Because if a guy doesn't love the fact that a two hour slow speed chase has an anti-climatic ending,

exactly. you go to a movie to be entertained and you don't set up the climax for 2 hours and then skip it.

fricking stupid. i don't care how 'arty' y'all think this film is, its just dumb as shite not to continue the conflict or show the fight.

this is particularly true of a villain as heinous as the one in this film.

i dont even care if the protagonist is killed but you pay for a movie to see these things, not to have no resolution whatsoever.

put cad downs as another luddite who doesn't 'get it'.

you're contradicting yourself. YOu go to be entertained, but then you're pissed because it didnt' go how you wanted it to. Did the last 3 minutes invalidate the entertainment you had in the previous 2 hours?

i don't know that we know he killed him did we? we just assumed when he had the truck. i can't remember. the farmer is my MiL's cousin and she was glad he didn't die on screen, so i don't recall.

The protagonist wasn't who you think it was, nor was the struggle, nor was the resolution. But they are all there.

You don't make a movie without brolins character or TLJ confronting the villain again

Couldn't disagree more. Brolin's character dying offscreen is one of the greatest reveals of all time. The movie isn't about him.

This is why I don't care that I didn't really like the ending. I was so damned entertained the whole rest of it that it just doesn't matter. I rewatch a lot as well.

Exactly, ultimately the movie is about Ed Tom Bell and that the world he knew was changed forever. Hence "No Country For OLD MEN"
