He’s got the laugh down for fricking sure. Only behind Hamill, but we’ve only heard him laugh twice so he might equal him.

Looks like he might actually do some Joker stuff in the last four minutes of that movie.

Until then, it looks like a methier version of The Fisher King.

This looks good and really, really dark.
If this is halfway good, Matt Reeves has gotta work the Joker in the next Batman movie. And DC needs to tell that douchenozzle Jared Leto to take a hike.

Such is the problem.

Say what you want about Hamill, Nicholson, Phoenix, being closer to the comics, etc., Ledger’s Joker is just special

Hamill is still the greatest Joker. Not even close.

Looks incredible.

They have also nailed the music so far in both the teaser and the actual trailer, perfectly spot-on.

Calling a movie unnecessary feels like lazy criticism to me.

True. And bashing a comic movie for diffent takes on a character is asinine. Comics have always recycled and reused characters. That's a staple of comics. Every Batman comic is not linear and in the same universe. That's one of the beautiful things about comics.

This will be an issue for many people. I think this movie splits the audience down the middle. Some will love it, others will hate it. I will say that there is some fantastic cinematography in that trailer.

It shows him taking care of (living with?) his mother.

It shows him struggling with mental illness while he's still trying to be a comedian.

It shows him seeking help for his mental illness.

All of this could be misdirection. Or they could all be different stories he tells without us ever knowing which is true and which is not.

I'd prefer a series of contradictory Joker origin stories, all told by the Joker to different audiences. Like a character study expansion of "you know how i got these scars."

would be great.

it is a sham they are making "society" create the joker.

The corruption in Gotham bred the Good in Batman and the Evil in Joker. They are two sides of the same coin. Answers to the same question

I’m not sure I want a full story arc Joker who you feel sympathy for. Dude is the greatest villain in the history of the printed comic page. I don’t need to see him getting beaten up by hooligans.

Wasnt really wanting to know the Jokers backstory, it was nice having it as a mystery.

But that looks legit and I will be there opening night.

Phillips is definitely doing his best Spike Jonze impression.

And yet the most iconic Joker story arc from the comics was a one-off where the author made the Joker a sympathetic figure.

Hamill may be the best interpretation of the comic book character. I can’t speak to that. But TDK Joker is the GOAT villain.

I say "not even close" probably more than I should given that I really dont like that opinion for the most part. But this is just ridiculous. Ledgers joker is widely considered the best super hero villains of all time and villain in general. Your opinion is not even close to being right. Boom, roasted.

“Iconic” is a strong word. Perhaps not the word you are looking for.

I know to what you are speaking, and you’re not entirely correct. But to each their own

The not knowing the truth of his past as he speaks it was the only real part that should have been taken from the The Killing Joke.

Although Oracle was nice too.

I need to rewatch but from the trailer it seemed Mom and his daughter are never in the same room.

ETA: and on rewatch realized the person being bathed in the beginning was his mom.

Oedipal Joker agogo?
