Yeah, this movie really hits home once you get older and realize you’re not going to conquer the world.
For me it's that your treasure is your friends.
It's what you've done for others that will be remembered.

Then as always I made them watch the SNL list ending.
You should also watch Arthur Spooner's review on King of Queens.
"A swing and a miss.....Pottersville is much better than Bedford Falls. They had gambling, strip clubs, night life. Hell, I wish George Bailey HAD never been born".
All due respect to Arthur Spooner, it's still my all time favorrite.

Absolutely
I’m 39 and the last 4 years of my life have not been very good. I think it gets to me more than any movie.

Movie has two of the top 5 scenes in cinema history
1) When George and Mary first kiss
2) The ending
Powerhouse of a movie

By the way, Wainright agrees to give George up to $330K in 2023 dollars with no questions asked. That’s a hell of a friend.
Especially since George stole his GF.

A great mainstream film that established Capra as an iconic filmmaker.

Agreed. It gets better every year. The scene after Harry gets back home from college and they’re celebrating his marriage. George is outside smoking and hears a train whistle leaving in the distance. You see him look up and he feels his dreams are also leaving the station too. Whole movie hits hard.

But George made him rich with the plastics idea that he stole.

Sam didn’t steal anything. He brought up the location issue and George said why not use the factory here. That was all.
Sam offered him a job as well but Ol Mossback George didn’t/couldn’t accept.

Sam called from New York:
Sam: George, you remember that night at Martini’s bar when you told me you read somewhere about making plastics out of soybeans? Chili beans. You remember, out of chili… out of soybeans.
George: Uh, yeah yeah yeah. Soybeans, yeah.
Then they talk about the factory. Sam was an idiot who got by because of his dad. It was George’s idea l, and if not for him then Sam would have never known about the soybean plastic
It’s literally a main part of a movie. It’s how he helped Sam (which wouldn’t have happened if he wasnt born). Sam repays the debt by giving George the money.

Forgot about that.
Still a stretch to say he “stole” anything from George.
Doesn’t sam also say he offered George a chance to get “in on the ground floor” of plastics and he “turned him down flat”?
George is obviously a bright guy but knowing something about turning soybeans into plastic isn’t a patent, and Sam took the information and made a business out of it. He also tried to being George in on it.
Love and respect to anyone though that knows his Bedford Falls history as you do good sir! HEE-HAW!!

Yeah stole is a little harsh especially since it was something George read and didn’t actually come up with. But he basically introduced it to Sam who in turn pitched it to his dad.
And Sam did basically agree to take care of George and offered a job that I’m sure would have been a cushy job.
