Than The Fly in BB

Literally nothing happened to advance the plot at all. The entire show is Walt and Jesse talking about killing the fly

So random in such a great show

The episode of Game of Thrones season 8 where everyone is sitting around bonding one last time before the white walker battle. Had most of them died the next episode it would make sense as a sentimental send off to all the supporting characters. But since they all lived the episode was just boring filler with no purpose. Then the next episode was a huge giant turd and it was downhill from there.

I knew from title what show this thread was about. I personally hated any dream episodes from sopranos. As a rule I always hate dream sequences.

There are some great dream sequence episodes:

Dick Van Dyke - "The Gunslinger"

Mary Tyler Moore - "Mary's 3 Husbands"

Several Taxi episodes

The Fugitive - "Nightmare at North Oak" . It's a classic, very highly regarded among fans, but it's not really a typical episode of the show. It feels more like a 1940s film noir second feature. I think it's the only Fugitive episode w/a dream sequence

That dream sequence is where the iconic shot of shot of Janssen running in the alley comes from, one of tGOAT TV images:

Fly showed Walt’s meticulous nature and struggle. For Rian Johnson, it was 100x better than TLJ.

I offer…

Exposé (Lost) - Nikki and Paolo.

I hate the episode that always appears in half of tv series. It’s the flashback episode where they show footage from several past episodes either to reminisce, to make a point, or to show the progression of a relationship. To me it’s lazy writing because no one wants to watch old footage for 30 minutes.

Is there a BB marathon on right now or something? This is like the 5th BB-specific question in the last 2 days.

I didn't like the episode but I am quite certain there are hundreds of worse episodes in great shows.

I thought those character based scenes were great, it was the actual story line parts that they fricked up.

But I do agree, too much plot armor, which was lame seeing as how they fricked up the plot.

It was a "bottle episode" to save money, so that the budget could be put towards other larger episodes

Vince Gilligan has spoken about this a few times.

Do people not know why clip shows used to be done

Yes, we all know the multiple rationales why they used to be done, but there’s no reason to have them in this day and age when episodes are readily available on streaming platforms. You still sometimes see them.
I have to give praise to Community though. They nailed their flashback episode.

I always enjoy one off episodes like this. I guess it’s not for everyone but the writers taking a short detour and being creative is kinda fun.

Let the downvotes rain but I loved the Nikki and Paolo episode of Lost. I always like when writers mess with time so that the episode isn’t linear (e.g. the backwards Seinfeld episode) - and the payoff at the end was superb. I mean they buried 2 people alive.

Love the BEEF series, but in the second season the episode that focused on the millineal girl in the hospital sort of ruined it.

I skip over Fly on every BB rewatch as well.
