Yes and no. It is sort of like politics. You have the extreme rights who believe that everything and anything about Star Wars should be included in what is considered real Star Wars and the extreme lefts who are younger, grew up watching Disney cartoons, now believe if Disney does not own the rights to it it is not real Star Wars because Disney says it is not. 
I have not read everything out there and to be honest was never a big comic book person so I can not speak to all materials that reside within the Star Wars universe. But I will say everything I have read or seen I believe adds value to the overall Star Wars universe so I could care less what someone wants to label canon, legends, EU, or real Star Wars.

How as I just expressed the extreme types I have seen. I am indifferent and have enjoyed all Star Wars media that has come out. At least until the sequels I should clarify.
I really have no issue with either side.

Super fans are vocal and annoying for any property, nd Star Wars being one of the largest franchises means they have the most super fans to pick from. The inconsistency of the franchise’s quality, style, and tone of movies plays into the debates that drive internet fandom culture.
However, with that said, the worst fan base is “Rick & Morty”. Those nihilistic, unearned arrogant, pseudo-intellectuals think that just because they get some of the jokes in an irreverent cartoon that they’re the smartest people on the planet. It makes it hard to enjoy the show when liking it means associating with those cretins.
