I downvote because Netflix has evolved into a media company. The original content is what you are paying for.

I use Netflix mainly for the DVD's. One day delivery, prepaid return. I get 3 a week. Pretty much any movie you can name, many more than Amazon Prime but if I had to choose one for immediate watching only it would be Amazon. Netflix's available library for instant streaming is lame.

I watched Lone Survivor like a week before it came out and it was DVD quality.
They just had a notification pop up occasionally. It was stating "This copy is for award consideration" or something like that

Anyone seen any good movies on Netflix lately worth watching?
i agree with Bengal. For the wife and i, there is nothing and we like horror. it's the same crap for over a year. The kids enjoy it so that's why i still subscribe. I canceled the disc deliver option.

That, my friend is what you call screener season.
Movies that want to get a look from Oscar voters send out HD quality copies of their movies to the voters sometimes even before they hit theaters and they get leaked.
It's a magical time of the year.

I watched American Sniper almost two weeks before it came out. It had Korean sub titles.
The only plus of Firestick is you can watch torrented stuff on your TV directly without having to connect your computer/tablet/phone to it. That and you don't have to deal with a bunch of pop up ads from the torrent sites.

I don't give a shite about movies.
Netflix is killing it with their original series right now.

I don't know that I've ever really watched Netflix for movie releases. For me it's almost always been about catching shows that I didn't catch/complete during their original run, documentaries, etc. Lets not act like TV programming isn't a massive draw for good acting and good writing.
Their original content is top notch. I can only think of a handful of channels that can even compete with this original content:
Narcos
Stranger Things
House of Cards
Orange is the New Black
Marvel's Daredevil
Marvel's Jessica Jones
Peaky Blinders (with the BBC)
The Crown
The OA
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
And that's not including quality programs they've picked up that were dropped from networks and completed/continued.
They're also putting out Marvel's Iron Fist, Mystery Science Theater 3K, and a host of other new content.
So where can I get that much content (old and new) for around $100 a year?

Yeah, they send DVD's to academy members for award consideration.
I watched the first 20 minutes of the Lego Batman movie the other day but I had to turn it off because the in-theater camera was crooked and 20% of the screen was blocked out because they had to zoom in to cut off the Spanish subtitles.

Netflix isn't about streaming new movies, it's about their original content, which is well worth the subscription.
If you're too cheap to actually rent a new movie that you want to see, then yeah, Netflix isn't for you. I've never understood why people feel they are entitled to seeing movies, but don't want to pay to see them. Movies don't get made for free.

Where have you been? Netflix's movie selection started going downhill in 2012 when their deal with Starz ended and they shifted strategy to original content. If you are subscribing for movies you're doing it wrong.

There are a lot of great classic movies on Netflix right now. For an example Mulholland Drive was recently added. That's one that I can think of just off the top of my head. Old Boy has been on Netflix for a while. It Follows was recently added. The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) is on there right now. The Money Pit and Swingers is one there. Way of the Dragon, Get the Gringo. Laura. The list goes on and on. There's all kinds of stuff that's worth watching on there, and there is no way you have watched them all.

When has Netflix ever put out any decent original movies? Their movies have always sucked
Their original shows keep getting better and more diverse and it's awesome.
Netflix is for binge watching shows anyway. But if you want movies then they've added several good movies recently. Just not original ones .
