Blasphemy.
Godfather 1 was the best. I found 2 good, but a little too morbid with Michael's family betraying him.

Yes. Goodfellas is my all time favorite. Much more realistic and compelling.

The two movies are radically different. Boogie Nights has more in common with Goodfellas than the Godfather films does.

It's far more Shakespearean than Goodfellas, but the final 30-40 minutes of Goodfellas is just as disturbing, if not more.
Scorsese is famous for having very fun and flashy films about dispicible, sad lives and characters.
Don't be fooled by the first 2/3 of Goodfellas that kind of glorifies the life, because the final act is as depressing as anything. Pesci's character is as sick as Hannibal Lector and DeNiro's character is as terrifying as any serial killer.

And Pesci's character was a great guy compared to his real-life counterpart. Tommy DiSimone was an absolute psychopath.
